Program Structure • length of the program: • 1 year (Ontario College Certificate) • 2 year (Ontario College Diploma) • 3 year (Ontario College Advanced Diploma) • program structure: • 1 year programs are 2 semesters • 2 year programs are 4 semesters • 3 year programs are 6 semesters • semester structure: • each semester is 14 weeks • break week at the midpoint

Overview Systems Analyst - three year Coop. Mix of Academic & Coop Work terms
Program Structure: Co-op Students • this program offers you the opportunity to take what you have learned in class and apply it to the ‘real world’ giving you experience in the industry • Important to Note: • coop is not guaranteed • you require a minimum ‘C’ average • you must pass all courses
Program Classes • classes are limited to between 30 and 40 students for most classes • you will take approximately 6-7 classes per week/semester • in general, classes are 3 hours each except for programming classes which are 6 credits and meet either 2 times a week for 3 hours OR 3 times a week for 2 hours • types of classes: • traditional classes • face-to-face instruction • hybrid classes • blend of face-to-face instruction/online learning • online classes
Program Classes • you were automatically registered for classes • classes are scheduled between 8AM & 10PM • you may choose to make changes to your assigned timetable until September 9th • it is your responsibility to verify your timetable • read your schedule carefully • make any necessary changes online • For help, contact askanadvisor@sheridancollege.ca

Example of GPA Calculation • Grade Points Value Course Credit Value Weighted Grade Credit • A 4.0 x 3.0 = 12.0 • B+ 3.5 x3.0 = 10.5 • B 3.0 x 3.0 = 9.0 • C+ 2.5 x 3.0 = 7.5 • C 2.0 x 3.0 = 6.0 • D 1.0 x 3.0 = 3.0 • Total 18.0 48.0 • GPA = Total Weighted Credit Value ÷ Total Credit Value • Based on example above: 48.0 ÷ 18.0 = 2.6 GPA
Expectations & Responsibilities Faculty expect you will: • Get to know your Teachers • Attend Class! • Complete Coursework with Academic Integrity • Complete Assigned Projects & Readings • Study • Participate in Class • Get Help (when needed & before it’s too late)
Program Classes: Transfer Students • if you have taken courses at another college or university – they may be transferable to Sheridan • to apply for advanced standing: • obtain course outlines for each course taken • obtain an official transcript of your grades • visit myotr.sheridancollege.ca for information or visit the Student Services Centre for assistance • Important to Note: • if you wish to add a class to replace the class you have received advanced standing for you must complete the process by September 9th
Program Requirements • Technology Requirements • students are required to bring laptop to class • expect to use your laptop in and out of class • Laptops should be purchased and brought to the first day of class 2. Grade Requirements • maintaining good academic standing is critical to your success • You must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 to graduate even if you have completed all the program courses
Program Assistance Academic Advisorand Coordinator Your Academic Advisor or Coordinator is available if: • you have questions about what courses you are required to take • you have core classes from another school you want to transfer • you want to know the impact dropping a class has on your academic plan • you have questions about what careers your program may lead to • you are not doing well in multiple classes

General Assistance You all have a Student Advisor Your Student Advisor is available if: • you have questions about college information, services or policies • you want to discuss ways to improve your grades • you are considering dropping/adding a class and want to discuss the implications (incl. financial) • you are feeling stressed or concerned and want to discuss your options and next steps • you need to take time off from your studies • You want to switch to a completely different program • Visit the Student Services Centre or email askanadvisor@sheridancollege.ca

Learning Strategist Drop-In Sessions • Work one-on-one with Sheridan College’s Learning Strategist (inquire at the Student Services Centre) • Drop into a session to find new strategies or “polish” old strategies to become successful in your studies!
Tips for Success • Develop a daily /weekly routine • Organize and review your notes • Prepare for your classes in advance • Participate in class • Get to know your classmates • Build a rapport with your teacher • Get engaged in campus activities
