What It Is The X Factor • The X Factor reading response allows readers to “X”amine a fictional or non-fictional person’s life by “X”amining: • The person’s life span • Facts from the person’s life • Life-changing events • Symbols representing facts and life changing events • An important or famous quote by the person
How to Do It The X Factor • On a piece of construction paper or blank printer paper, create an X. • Each leg will contain the following information: • One-fourth (¼) of the person’s lifespan represented in years. • 3 important events from the person’s life during that time • 1 life-changing event during that time • 1 symbol representing the 3 events and life changing event X Leg 1 Leg 2 Leg 3 Leg 4
How to Do It The X Factor • Then, in the center, create a circle that contains the following: • A picture, image, or drawing of the person • A direct citation (quote) that best represents the person’s entire life and the purpose of her or his existence. • The citation must be at least two sentences long X Leg 1 Leg 2 Leg 3 Leg 4
Grading Criteria • A Complete Assignment Has the Following: • Four Time-lines of Lifespan • 12 Facts from Lifespan • 4 Life-changing Events • 4 Symbols • 1 Image, Picture, or Drawing of person • 1 Direction Citation, 2 or more sentences • Multi-colored on un-lined paper • Creative, unique, inspirational
Reading Comprehension Standard 3.2: Theme and Textual Evidence Creativity Evaluation Write one sentence explaining what you did well according to the skill being learned using the language of Bloom’s taxonomy. Then, write one more sentence explaining what you could do better or differently next time and how you could move up one level on Bloom’s Taxonomy. Printing Directions 1. On the tool bar, click on “File,” click on “Print.” 2. In the “Print” dialogue box, in the lower left corner under “Print What,” click on the drop down arrow and select “Handouts.” 3. Then, under “Color/Grayscale,” select the best on for your printer. 4. Next, under “Handouts,” click on “Slides per Page,” and choose “6.” 5. Lastly, click on “OK,” and the file will print.
