Purpose of Task Force • Seek out tax-related activity on the Internet • Promote communication of such activity • Promote standardization of such activities when appropriate • Work as an industry association to help shape such activities
Task Force Goals • Assess your Internet needs and wants • Educate our collective selves • Promote open-provider model of Internet services • Define and set standards for Internet services
Needs Assessment • NACTP will participate in a survey of revenue agencies • Survey will ask you to detail and prioritize your Internet needs • Individual and business income taxes • For the next 3 years • This information will be shared so individual companies can work to meet the needs
Education • Continually collect, update, and disseminate information about Internet-based activities and revenue agencies needs • Needs, Challenges, Support, Standards • Members-only area on NACTP Web site for dissemination of information • State access • Industry access
Recommendation • Link to all approved software companies providing Internet related tax preparation and e-file services • Following the existing e-file model of working with all approved e-file vendors
Goal • Work with revenue agencies to help define and set standards • For new or existing customer service features • Other value-added features or services • Available to taxpayers or tax preparers • Using standards complementary to e-file
