  4. Improve Screen Layout • What is it? • Edgebar docked to Left • Status Bar on top • Maximized windows in template • Improved Construction toolbar • How does it work? • These are default settings in V14

  6. Ribbon Bar Button Enhancements • What is it? • Complete overhaul of the main Ribbon Bar in Solid Edge. • The new look will be default in V14

  11. Colors in Part and Assembly • What is it? • Ability to apply color styles to Body entities, Reference Planes, Sketches and Coordinate Systems • How does it work? • These new options will be built into the interface for the Part Painter command and the sketching commands.

  12. Colors in Part and Assembly continued • Sketching • When creating a sketch, the user will have an option via the ribbon bar to select a sketch color. The selected color will stay active for that file. • A different color can be applied to each element

Colors in Part and Assembly continued • Sketch color can be set on a file by file basis unless you make the change in the template. • With Part Painter a user can select a new style and apply it to a Sketch from Edgebar or from graphic input. • Sketch colors can been turned on or off through the shortcut menu

  14. Colors in Part and Assembly continued • A user can also apply a specific style or color to Coordinate Systems and Reference Plane • Use the Tools/Options dialog to set color before placement • Use the Ribbon bar pull down after placement

Colors in Part and Assembly continued • Colors can also be applied to Body entities through Part Painter • Options now include “Body” selection • V12 used a select option called “Part” which has been renamed to “All Features” in V14 • “All” is default - This option selects top-level objects that support styles. It will allow the user to select faces using PickQuick, but not features.

  16. Colors in Part and Assembly continued • By applying color to the “Body”, subsequent features will pick up the new color. • By applying color to “All features”,subsequent features use thedefault style as in V12 Subsequent Feature Subsequent Feature

Enhancement to Object Handles (2D & 3D) • What is it? • Geometry handles, relationship indicators, and cursor relationship glyphs will be modified to improve size and appearance. • How does it work? • Users will see these changes while they work in the product whether it is during an edit of a sketch or placing parts in an assembly.

  19. Enhancement to Object Handles (2D & 3D) • In the sketching environment you will notice all of the relationship handles are slightly smaller in size • The connect or point on is now an “X” shape New look Old Look

  20. Enhancement to Object Handles (2D & 3D) • Notice the new glyphs indicating “Edit points and Silhouette points • Also notice the Tangent relationship handle has changed from a circle with a box in it to an “X” shape

  21. Enhancement to Object Handles (2D & 3D) • Additional work has been done to make objects appear as though they are in the center of the model by making the glyph transparent.

Shading in Locate/Select Colors • What is it? • Part faces during locate/select operations will shade faces for better feedback to user. • How does it work? • When applying assembly relationships between 2 parts, selecting a part face and shading it during locate/select will be provided. • This also includes shaded highlight of part faces within part for feature operations.

  23. Shading in Locate/Select Colors continued • In both cases the appropriate object will highlight giving the user a better idea what they are about to select for the current operation

Show/Hide Solid Capability • What is it? • To assist the user in controlling display clutter, the ability to show and hide the design body has been added • How does it work? • The user will be able to Show and Hide the design body using the following methods: • Graphic Selection – A shortcut menu will be available on the design body containing a ‘Hide’ option. • Tools Menu – Design Body will be added to the ‘Show All’ and ‘Hide All’ menus.

Show/Hide Solid Capability continued • Other methods: • Window Background Menu - Design Body will be added to the ‘Show All’ and ‘Hide All’ menus. • PathFinder Background Menu – Design Body will be added to the ‘Show All’ and ‘Hide All’ menus. • Construction Display Dialog – The dialog will be modified to include a Design Body Show and Hide option

Show/Hide Solid Capability continued • When the user decides to hide the design body, the feature text in PathFinder is grayed out • Features are displayed as the cursor passes over them in PathFinder • If the body is hidden and the user edits any of the features, the design body will be automatically shown.
