  1. With rapid industrialization and a focus on the implementation of sustainable energy resources, the Government of India is emphasizing exploring new avenues that can assist the nation in reducing its dependence on fossil fuels and its overall carbon footprint. Due to its geographical location, India receives sunshine equivalent to 3000 hours per year and is leveraging solar power to meet a significant portion of its energy needs in an environment-friendly manner. Even in ancient times, solar power was a limitless and dependable source of energy for Indian citizens. According to reports, India's total renewable energy capacity is 144 GW, out of which solar power accounts for 82 GW. By 2023, 51 solar parks were sanctioned by the Govt. of India to harness solar photovoltaic power for green energy transition. After successfully reinforcing its credentials in the maintenance and overhaul space, Braithwaite & Co. Ltd. has diversified its verticals to support the nation in achieving sustainability goals and enhancing the solar power capacity of India. With a commitment to clean and renewable energy sources, the Miniratna company is leveraging its expertise to increase India's installed renewable energy capacity.

  2. Braithwaite believes India needs transformation in its existing energy system. The hour needs to establish a low-carbon energy system driven by new and renewable energy. By following a low-carbon pattern, India can foster economic development by gaining energy independence and reducing vulnerability to geopolitical disturbances. In addition to making efforts to create renewable energy resources, the focus should be on conserving energy and enhancing energy efficiency. Since the core goal is to reduce GHG emissions, which are caused by fossil fuel consumption, the company looks forward to developing alternatives that can provide access to clean, safe, affordable, and reliable energy. Having already begun its march toward sustainability, Braithwaite has undertaken several projects in the renewable energy sector. One of its notable initiatives is the solar power projects spread across several parts of the nation. In 2022, the company began work on installing a 10 MW solar power plant and a ten-year maintenance contract. With this feat, the company laid the foundation for future renewable energy projects to fulfill its mission of making India achieve its goal of developing 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by the year 2030.

  3. In addition, it is supporting the nation's green initiatives through its contribution to the KUSUM scheme, launched by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE). To ensure energy security in the Indian agricultural sector, the company provides innovative solutions to solarize irrigation pumps under all three components of the KUSUM scheme of MNRE in both CAPEX and OPEX mode. Recently, Braithwaite collaborated with Pinewood Systems, an active investor in the renewable energy sector, to develop a 500 MW solar project in Maharashtra. Holding a similar stance on clean and renewable energy, Braithwaite & Pinewood Systems have joined hands to create sustainable solutions for a reduced carbon footprint. These projects are just the tip of the iceberg; the Miniratna company is well prepared for the future. With several solar power projects in the pipeline, it is equipped to make India take the spotlight in the renewable energy sector. To achieve its goals and ambitions to open doors to sustainable avenues, Braithwaite has not limited itself to leveraging the sun. It is also leveraging wind and water energy to cut the percentage of fossil energy usage and decarbonize the energy mix.

  4. In addition, it contributes through its diverse projects in the waste management sector. Its leadership believes that sustainable manufacturing practices and harnessing renewable energy resources are the keys to producing green energy and achieving the target of net zero emissions by 2070 for India. India is one of the largest energy- consuming countries, and therefore, there is a significant need to develop clean- energy resources to reduce dependence on imports, resolve energy poverty, and strengthen Indian energy infrastructure. Moreover, the company's emphasis on indigenous development of such resources reflects its determination toward the 'Make in India' initiative. Braithwaite is determined and dedicated to finding resources and solutions to combat climate change mitigation. With time, it has equipped itself with the latest technologies, expanded its operations, and upskilled its workforce to work on the resources for the future. Braithwaite will continue to unlock new doors that pave the path to national progress.
