HOMONYMS • Words that sound alike, but have different meanings.
Core Standards • Gain knowledge of the proper use in sentences of different homonyms. • Gain knowledge of different spelling of homonyms. • Gain knowledge of different meanings of the homonyms. • Gain knowledge of how to apply them in our everyday life.
Student Assignments • Play the homonyms learning games, Match game, May I have a word game, Word confusion, and Grammar gorilla. • Write out six pairs of new words that sound the same and their different meanings. • Find pictures that describe the new words and draw pictures of them, copy pictures of them, or cutout and paste pictures of them in your paper. • On a separate piece of paper write out one of your favorite words, create a picture of it, and write a complete sentence using the new word. • Be creative.
