  3. Who I am…. I am a proud mother of a beautiful daughter, who is the light of my life! The things that interest me are things that make me better. I enjoy spending time with my family, health and fitness, and just about anything that can be done outdoors. Growing up, athletics was a huge part of my life. Today, I can be found on the soccer field coaching my daughter’s team or watching her as she participates in hip hop classes. My household likes to follow the motto “work hard, play hard,” and that is exactly what we do. I believe that life is made up of memories, so everyday we are given should be enjoyed. We should not take ourselves so seriously and be able to enjoy each moment. I love to laugh, and people often ask me if I am ever not smiling. I just tell them I am sunning my teeth. I have a passion for helping others because I believe that is where true happiness come from. My hope is that I can instill this belief in my daughter, and one day into a classroom.

  4. PersonalMissionStatement I feel it to be my personal responsibility to help open and shape the minds of our future. They will leave my classroom with excitement, and understand that knowledge is power!

  5. How I got here today… Life has it’s own ways of working things out. Teaching was something that I had always wanted to do, but it was not something that I took so seriously until I became a parent. Following my hearts desire and going back to school to teach became a priority so I could set an example for my daughter. I want her to know that anything is possible no matter what age you are, and that what matters the most, at the end of the day, is your happiness. “Children learn more from what you are than what you teach.” W.E. DuBois

  6. In May of 1999, I graduated from Nederland High School in the state of Texas. Throughout the four years that I attended school there, I was in advanced math classes and the National Junior Honor Society. My extracurricular activities were playing basketball and soccer. I was a member of the student council, Health Occupation Students of America, and voted “best sense of humor” my senior year. My involvement was essential in the preparation for my future to come.

  7. What I have done… In December of 2010, I finished at Lamar State College Port Arthur with a certificate in Process Technology with a 4.0 grade point average. Although my career path has changed, this certificate still serves as a reminder of hard work and determination. This was accomplished during the first few years of motherhood and working full-time. This was my first academic stepping stone that proved to me that I could do anything that I set my mind to. My intentions are to make sure that every child I encounter believes this!

  8. Letter of Recommendation… This is a letter from one of my current bosses. I hold this recommendation in the highest regard because of the man who wrote it. He has known me for 30 years of my life. He has also been practicing for over 50 years and is very well respected for all of his hard work and contributions to his community. I feel nothing but privileged to be able to work by his side. While working with him, I have faced many new challenges and have been encouraged to rise to the occasion. I will leave this position with a new found perspective and confidence in my interpersonal skills.

  9. Accolades… My continued academic achievements have been recognized for the past three semesters by qualifying for the Dean’s List of Lamar University. In order to qualify, I have carried a full course load of 12 or more hours and have had a 3.5 grade point average or higher. This work ethic is also exemplified in my professional life today and will continue to do so. I tell myself and my daughter than anything worth doing, is worth doing well!

  10. “If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you!”

  14. AcademicGoals…. To complete this semester, continuing to qualify for the Dean’s List by maintaining my 3.67 or even raising it higher at Lamar University. If I succeed in doing this, I stand an even greater chance at my next academic goal listed. To complete my Bachelor of General Studies Degree in December of 2019 with the qualifications of making the President’s List at Lamar University. What an amazing way it will be to finish off my academic achievements at Lamar University!? The thought of just going back to school as an older adult seemed impossible, let alone, finishing with a 4.0 grade point average.

  15. Professional Goals…. I will spend the last year of collegein a Teacher’s aide/Student Support in the Pflugerville Independent School District. I have served on the PTA for the past three years in the Nederland Independent School District, where my daughter attended school. I have also been the Homeroom Mother for her first and second grade classes. This will help my chances of gaining letters of recommendation necessary to exit the certification program. Once I have graduated from Lamar University, in December of 2019, I will enroll and fulfill all requirements necessary to complete the teacher certification course online. I will be entering my own classroom by August of 2021 to finally start my career as a teacher. My academic goals will me reached. My hard work and determination will have paid off handsomely, and I can continue to set the example that I long to set for my daughter. Then she will learn from watching her mother do what most consider the unthinkable.

  16. Soon enough, I will be able to finally embark on my journey to happiness in fulfilling the most rewarding career of all. I will be that teacher that a child never forgets….the one who stands out…the one who makes them better. The best is yet to come… Amy Pullin (409)365-5795 ampul81@gmail.com
