Background • The infrastructure management is structured as follows • Road Agency Limpopo (RAL) • RAL constructs road and bridges and also perform the rehabilitative maintenance • Infrastructure Grant is allocated in full to the RAL • Department’s team • The Department performs the routine maintenance such as bush clearing, pothole patching, grass cutting, re-graveling, etc
Roads infrastructure • Limpopo Province road network is approximately 23 087KM • 7348 km are paved which represent 32% of total road network • 68% of our roads are gravel roads • Floods that occurred since December 2005 caused damages as follows • 1548 km paved roads and • 1405.58 gravel roads • This reduces paved roads to 5800km which is 25% of total road network
