  3. Story • Olympus is under assault by the great beast, Typhon ----------> • You are Hermes and Zeus needs your help

  4. Story • Zeus is being guarded by Delphyne • You must save Zeus so he may defeat Typhon

  5. Comparable Products Psychonauts • Perfect mix of action and platforming as well as humor

  6. Comparable Products • Numerous platforms and the ability to jump up and drop down to platforms

  7. Objectives Provisionals • Send souls to underworld to increase score and find powerups • Acquire aid from the other gods which will allow access to special abilities • Defeat enemies End Game • Win: Defeat Delphyne and save Zeus • Loss: Drop all your mail and fail to save Zeus

  8. Features • Mail-based health system • Side objective linked to unlockables • Humorous storyline • Puzzle-based boss battles

  9. Challenges • Platforming: Player will have to avoid spike pits and other traps • Enemies: Typhon’s forces will impede the player at every turn • Puzzles: Not every path is as simple as it seems

  10. Walkthrough • Start on Olympus • Must discover where Zeus is • Run and jump as you make your way to Zeus • Defeat the minions of Typhon along the way • Find the other gods and acquire their aid • Defeat Delphyne and rescue Zeus

  11. Testing Methods • Observing • Watched as they played the game and took notes on their actions • Thinking Out Loud • Asked the player to verbalize their thoughts as they played

  12. Results and Revisions • Problem: Did not like the use of “space” for shoot and “z” for jump • Solution: Switched buttons • Problems: No boundaries in boss fights/levels • Solution: Added boundaries • Problem: Could not shoot or turn left • Solution: Added code to mirror sprite and shoot left

  13. Results and Revisions • Problem: People were confused about controls and game goals • Solution: Added an intro screen to confirm data

  14. Lessons Learned • Need to be more obvious with solutions to problems • If boss spawns enemies, do not have a billion instances of boss • Users, if unrestricted, will not do correct thing. RESTRICT THEM!!
