  3. WHAT? • One of the main causes of unemployment was high taxes, People weren’t getting as much income therefore, the people could not pay off their taxes. • Also the slaves were taking the citizens jobs. • The people of Ancient Rome to try and stop the unemployment they would right petitions and they at least hope that they will lower the rate of the unemployed.

  4. WHO? • Most of the people who were unemployed in Ancient Rome were the farmers • The wealthy farmers hired slaves to do their work for them they could not compete with the other farmers and the poor farmers could not sell their food anymore. • The farmers also had to do a lot of work because they would have to give a huge amount of grain to the emperor to feed over 100,000 people who served in the military.

WHY? • A big reason why unemployment started was because when the slaves would go to war their job spots would be empty and since most of the Roman citizens were in war a lot of the jobs spots were empty, so while they were gone slaves took their spots which were cheaper and easier so when the citizens came back from war they were not able to get there jobs back.

  6. SOLUTIONS! • They could create more jobs • They could lower taxes • They could not take all of the farmers goods, so that the farmers could make food for the citizens to have • You could have an unemployment office, in which the people are experts on helping to find people jobs

  8. WHAT? • Taxes are a big problem of unemployment today too. • When taxes rise incomes decrease so many people can not pay off their taxes. • The unemployment has rate is 8.3% • The unemployment has risen higher and higher every year

  9. WHO? • People would write to congress men about the problem.

  10. WHY? • A big reason that unemployment started was because of the increase of taxes and the people are getting laid off. • More and more people are becoming homeless because the people are getting evicted from their homes.
