Ancient Egyptian history is also divided up into dynasties. A dynasty is when one family is ruling in ancient Egypt. Each pharaoh is related to the pharaoh that ruled before him. There are 31 dynasties in ancient Egyptian history. The dynasties end when Alexander the Great (a Greek) invades Egypt in 332 BCE One of the last Egyptian pharaohs is Cleopatra Dynasties
Egyptians believed the soul was made up ofseveralparts: • Ba: watched over the living family • Ka: went on to the afterlife; accepted offerings • Ren: the soul’s name • At night the parts of the soul would be reunited at the deceased body to prepare for the next day. Afterlife
If the body was destroyed, they soul of the dead would be lost forever. This is why Egyptians preserved the bodies of the dead (mummies).
