Take out and put on your desk: • Your notebook, • A sheet of notebook paper • A blue or black pen • Your vocabulary flash cards • Review the vocabulary words for today’s test. • Prepare to take and grade the vocabulary test.

A dramatic poem “Incident in a Rose Garden” • Definition: “Dramatic Poetry” • Poetry in which the speaker is clearly someone other than the poet. Some of the best dramatic poetry consists of dialogue in which more than one character speaks. • Read the poem aloud • Question the Poet Strategy • Reread the poem silently. • BRIEFLY answer the questions on your sheet in terms of the poem. • Practice: • “Understanding Dramatic Poetry” • “Effective Word Choices”
