Definitions • Deity-divine character or nature, esp. that of the Supreme Being; divinity • Olympian-pertaining to Mount Olympus or dwelling thereon, as the gods of classical Greece • Attribute-something attributed as belonging to a person, thing, group, etc.; a quality, character, characteristic, or property: Sensitivity is one of his attributes • Sphere of Influence-any area in which one nation wields dominant power over another or others • Provenance-place or source of origin: The provenance of the ancient manuscript has never been determined.
Parents of the Gods • The Titans of Greek mythology are, in the first generation, the aunts, uncles, and parents of the Olympian gods and goddesses. These Titans are the 12 children of Gaia and Uranus: • Oceanus,Coeus,Crius ,Hyperion,Iapetus,Cronus,Thea,Rhea, Themis,Mnemosyne,Phoebe ,Tethys

Zeus • Latin Spelling : Zeus • Roman Names: Jupiter, Jove • He was born in the Diktaion cave, where he was nursed by Amaltheia, but conceived by Cronus and Rhea • His sphere of influence was Mount olympus and the Human world • His attributes were the lightning bolt, royal scepter, and the eagle • His favorite place to stay was mount olympus
Zeus (cont.) • Ancient-I chose this picture because it depicts him with his attributes and what the Greco people thought of him in that time. I liked the way it showed his heroic stature. With the built body and a thick beard, it seems like he has been through a lot. With his expression he looks like a king. That is why I chose this picture. • Modern- I chose this picture because it showed the more super heroish side of Zeus. Even though he is shown with white hair, he is more built then the other Zeus. He also looks more battle hardened. He is also depicted with more godly weaponry. That is why I chose this picture.

Hades • Latin Spelling: Hades • Translation: Unseen One • The parents were Kronus and Rhea • He ruled the Underworld • was depicted as a dark-bearded and a scepter with a bird • Birthplace: was eaten when born by his father • He favored the underworld and never had risen to the surface
Hades (cont.) • Ancient-I chose this picture because it depicts many of his attributes. It shows his dark beard. It also shows his scepter with the hawk. The background also has an evil look to it. This is why I chose this picture. • Modern- Many modern pictures make the gods look like superheroes, but this is just epic. It shows the evil and anger in a villain. Instead of a scepter he is shown with a sword. The best reason I chose this is because of the fire. This is why I chose this picture.

Posiedon • Latin Spelling: Poseidon • Translation: Neptune • Parents: Kronos and Rhea • He rules the Ocean] • He is depicted with a Tridon, a dark beard and a sturdy build • Birthplace: he was eaten by his father at birth
Poseidon (cont.) • Ancient- The reason I chose this picture is because it shows his sphere of influence and his attributes. The ocean makes him look very lean and like a fish. He is shown with his triton. Also what he was most renound for was his horses. This is why I chose this picture. • Modern- I chose this picture for many reasons. It depicts many of his characteristics like the water erupting from the sea. It also shows his masculine side. This is why I chose this picture.

Hestia(cont.) • Ancient- I chose this picture for many reasons. It showed her attribute the branch and a kettle. She looks very homely and modest. She also looks very positive. This is why I chose this picture. • Modern- I chose this picture because it emphasizes goddesses. It shows her beauty. It also makes her look very majestic. This is why I chose this picture.

Hera • Latin Spelling: Hera • Translation: Juno • Parentage: Kronos and Rhea • Her sphere of influence is women, marriage, the sky, and the starry heavens • Usually depicted as a beautiful woman wearing a crown and holding a royal, lotus-tipped staff • She was eaten • She favored Olympus
Hera (cont.) • Ancient-I chose this picture for many reasons. It shows many of her attributes. It shows the bird. It also shows the scepter with the flower. This is why I chose this picture. • Modern- The reason I chose this picture is because of her attitude. It says I am better than you. It also shows why zeus chose her. His reason was beauty. This is why I chose this picture.
