25 Feb 2014 - Where will the academy be in 2014? Temporary site: Very confident it will be at a local Slough school (unused space or port-a-cabins) Or Converted building within easy access of South-East Slough
Old TVU Site – The Clock House Building Easy access – A4! On local bus route – 77, Distance = 1.5 miles from Upton Court Road. (3 mins by car on a clear day, a 20 min walk or a 10 min cycle! ) Outdoor hard/green spaces Ample indoor facilities
Timeline of Events – Temporary Building May 2014 – Architects and Principal meet to discuss requirements June 2014 – Finalise facilities required/provided. July/August 2014 – Refurbishment of site September 2014 – 1st until 5th staff organise learning spaces Friday 5 September – Open Morning for parents’ and students’ Monday 8 September – Ditton Park Academy Opens to students in full academy uniform
Main Site (New Build) - 2015 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed for Castleview between the Education Funding Agency and Slough Building works are being scheduled with the timeline for 300 students to occupy the school in Sept 2015 The build for 1100 students will be completed during the autumn term 2015. Regular communication to keep you constantly updated via the website and the Principal’s Blog!

Uniform - PE Uniform – Day wear Uniform ‘try-on’ and ordering will be on Thursday 10 July at Upton Court Grammar School. Order forms and sizing will be issued on 1 July.

Meal Arrangements • Provided by a local school (SASH) • 11am = Hot main meal • 1.30pm = Limited cold provision This might require payment in advance to the academy. We will let you know! • Packed lunch from home (see academy policy) Can be eaten at either break or a little bit in both In support of these temporary arrangements a parent/carer must sign their child up for half-term.

Tuesday 1 July 2014 Entry to The Langley Academy is through the side gate by the Sixth Form Centre via Green Drive. Late arrivals should use the main entrance/gate. Arrive at 8.50am Day of various activities so that we can get to know your child and they start to understand our expectations Collection at 2.20pm from the sixth form centre Parents Information Event at 2.30pm in The Langley Academy main hall – term dates, policies etc
Transition Paperwork Forms for parent/carer to complete and return to us before or on Tuesday 1 July If you need advice and guidance please ring or come into Upton Court where myself or Mr Caulfield can help! The more information you provide the better we will be equipped to support your son/daughter If any information changes (address, telephone numbers) please let us know asap
Parent Governors Letter in the pack with a nomination form One meeting every half-term for 2 hours – 5.15pm! Term/Position lasts for 4 years Additional committees are voluntary – admissions, disciplinary etc Link to a role or T&L Community – LAC, SEN, H&S etc Deadline is Friday 13 June at 1pm
Parents’ & Teachers’ Association Letter in pack with an expression of interest form AGM – Thursday 18 September 2014 – 5pm 6 official meetings at the academy Raise money to support children – trips, equipment etc Organise and run events Provide refreshments at academy events Be supportive and pro-active in creating a community Deadline is Friday 13 June 1pm
Next Steps Re-furbish the existing building to become Ditton Park Academy Recruit support staff – SEN, EAL, Admin, Premises Provide opportunity for parents to purchase uniform – Thursday 10 July 4pm - 5.30pm (UCGS) Order everything else needed to open a new school! Complete our visits to Primary schools Launch the Ditton Park Academy website & social media!
