  2. Matthew 5:17-20 • “unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes & Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” • Pharisees = Outwards Acts of service, but their Heart was Not In It!

  3. What is Two-Mile Religion? • From The Heart – • 2 Corinthians 8:5 “gave themselves to the Lord” • Ephesians 6:5,6 “as to Christ” • Whatever we do, we should do it to please Christ! • We will be Good Citizens & Good Employees!

  4. One Who FailedOne Who Didn’t • King Saul – failed 1st mile! • 1 Samuel 15:3ff • Went to a POINT – Stopped SHORT • David Succeeded in going the 2nd Mile! • 1 Samuel 24:1ff

  5. Warnings For Us • Luke 16:15 – highly esteemed among men – abomination in the sight of God • Must serve from a PURE HEART • Galatians 1:10 – want to please GOD rather than MEN!

  6. Applying Two-Mile Religion • Lot’s Wife – went 1st, Failed 2nd • Genesis 19 • Luke 17:32 “Remember Lot’s Wife!” • Moses – went 1st , Failed 2nd • Exodus 17:1-7 • Numbers 20:10,11 • Failing to go the 2nd Mile can be DISASTROUS!

  7. What About Us? • 1 Peter 4:17,18 • With DIFFICULTY Righteous saved WHAT is so Difficult? Going The Second Mile!

  8. ARE YOU: • Kind to all? • Matthew 7:12 “whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them” • 1 Peter 2:18 “be submissive to your masters” • Forgiving by Nature? • Matthew 6:13-15 • Answer to Our prayers conditioned on our forgiving attitude • Colossians 3:12,13

  9. ARE YOU: • A Daily Shining Light? • Matthew 5:13-16 – salt of the earth, light of the world • Titus 2:11,12 – live soberly, righteously, and godly” • Working Toward Saving of Self & Others? • Acts 2:40; 8:4 • 1 Thessalonians 1:8 Are YOU a CHRISTIAN 7 Days a Week?

  10. We Need To Heed The Words of Jesus John 9:4 "I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.”

  11. Now is the Time to Work For Him! Matthew 28:20 "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

  12. Are YOU Practicing Two-Mile Religion? IF You are NOT giving Whole-hearted Obedience to the Lord, You Are NOT!

  13. IF you are NOT, Why Not Begin NOW? IF You Began, but have Not been Faithful, Why not REPENT & RETURN to HIM?
