  1. Backward Design

  2. What is backward design? One starts with the end (the desired results) and then derives curriculum from the evidence of learning.

  3. To begin with the end in mind means to start with a clear understanding of your destination. It means you know where you’re going…so the steps you take are always in the right direction. • It’s thinking about assessment beforeDeciding how you teach.

  4. There are three stages to Backward design: Identify Desire Results. Big Ideas and Skills 2. Determine acceptable evidence. Culminating Assessment Task In the first stage, technology could be included. Students can serve on the net using computer following their teacher’s instructions. 3-Plan learning experiences and instruction . Learning Events

  5. Identify Desired Results: - What should students know, understand, and be able to do Consider state standards, teacher/student interests Determine Acceptable Evidence- How will it be determined if students have achieved results and met standards? What is acceptable evidence of student understanding and proficiency? Consider both informal and formal assessment. Plan learning experiences and instruction.- What must students know to perform effectively and achieve desired results? What activities will equip students with the needed knowledge and skills? What will need to be taught and how should it best be taught given performance goals? What materials and resources are best suited to accomplish these goals? Is the overall design coherent and effective?

  6. Pros and Cons of Backward Planning‏: Pros:•The backward planning tool helps decide a time line or time period for completing the tasks.•The backward planning tool helps the team in understanding concepts easily.Cons:•The backward planning tool can be complex, complicated, and confusing during its initial stage.•The backward planning tool is a little more time-consuming.

  7. Backward design is a new and creative model to be applied in Saudi Arabia. Saudis schools try to apply new instructional methods to achieve successful learning. Teachers in Saudi Arabia search for what could be effective in their classrooms and applied new methods using technology to have students’ interests. Most Schools have modern computers and devices and allow students to use under protection.
