T5 Year 8 – PSHERestorative Justice? Lesson Objective To gain a greater understanding of the link between behaviour and consequences Extension (More Able) To produce a group report on restorative approaches in school
Starter • Two year 8 boys were in the same class but did not get on. It started with Jack calling Luke names. Jack was sporty and had a large group of friends in his year and some students from year 10 that he used to hang around with. Luke ignored the name calling at first until it got very personal and involved his family. One day whilst Jack was trying to impress his older mates, he shouted abuse at Luke. Luke snapped and retaliated, shoving Jack to the ground. Jack got up and with his pride hurt, punched and head butted Luke.
