JOY IN WAITING ON THE LORD. David learnt to worship the Lord, while watching his father’s flocks in the fields of Bethlehem. It was during this period of time that he began to understand spiritual truths that would change the Nation of Israel in his generation and thereafter.

David learnt to worship the Lord, while watching his father’s flocks in the fields of Bethlehem. It was during this period of time that he began to understand spiritual truths that would change the Nation of Israel in his generation and thereafter. He exercised faith to fight the Lion and the Bear to protect the flock.
It took that same faith to defend Israel, God’s flock, against Goliath. He learned that the Name of the Lord was powerful for the pulling down strongholds. David became the greatest king, Israel ever had; but he began not as a king but as a shepherd boy!
Matt 25: 21 “ His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’”
Matt 25: 21 “ His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’”

You need to fight the lion and the bear before you can take on the Goliaths. David fought with smaller things. He tried and tested God’s word in every situation long before Goliath came to the scene.
Even though Saul offered his armor, David could not fight Goliath using Saul’s armor. You cannot walk the walk of faith using somebody else’ revelation of God or their fillings. Everyone one of us has to find our own strength and gifts and walk in the revelation that God has given each of us individually.
After being anointed as the new king of Israel, he had to wait on the Lord patiently for fifteen years before God would bring to fulfillment His word in David’s life. 1063 BC. – David is anointed as king of Israel at the age of approximately 16 yrs. 1063 BC.- David serves as a musician & David kills goliath 1056 BC. – Saul tries to kill David. David spares Saul’s life twice 1056 BC. – Installed as King of Judah 1048 BC – Installed as king of Israel for both kingdoms.
He was rejected by Saul for about 7 years. And then for another 7 to 8 years, he was king of half Israel. It took fifteen years from the anointing, till he actually became King of the whole nation of Israel.
We need to realize that even though we have received the call of God on our lives, and His anointing for service; He still takes time in bringing us to the fulfillment of the call. We cannot allow poverty, sickness and tribulation rob us of this joy!
Luke 10:17,20 ‘The seventy-two returned with joy and said “LORD, even the demons submit to us in your name” Has the Lord Jesus Christ written with His nail pierced hand your name in the book of life?

Isaiah 61:10 ‘I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my GOD. For He has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns herself with her jewels.’
Joy multiplies in the presence of God; In His presence is fullness of joy! Psalms16:11 ‘You have made known to me the path of life; you fill me with joy in your presence with eternal pleasures at your right hand’
Psalms 37:4 ‘Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart. Isaiah 40:8 ‘The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our GOD stands forever’
John 16:24 ‘’Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete’ I John 1:5 ‘This is the message we have heard form Him and declare to you: GOD is light; in Him there is no darkness at all’
Acts 5:41 The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.’ Romans 14:17 ‘For the Kingdom of GOD is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.’
This is not a selfish joy. Earthly joy cannot be shared like this. But this is Heavenly joy, which is our privilege to seek, receive and share with many others on earth. I Samuel 16:3 ‘Invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what to do. You are to anoint for me the one I indicate’
Have you ever realized the God wants you to be a Heavenly King? I Peter 2:9 ‘But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness in to His wonderful light.’
When you become conscious of the Spirit of God being poured upon you as a sign that you are His forever, it’s only a beginning. Even though the joy of now is wonderful, its only a beginning. II Samuel 5:7,9a 7‘Nevertheless, David captured the fortress of Zion, in the City of David.
9’David then took up residence in the fortress and called it the city of David.’ Whom Joshua could not drive, David did by the Grace of God. It was a heavenly plan that they should be driven out only by God’s people who had come out of Egypt.
He did not do to the Jebusites, what God did to the people of Jericho. Have you realized God depends on you to fulfill the heavenly plan? Jebusites are Gentiles or unbelievers with whom believers have common yolk. For about 400 years, God’s plan was hindered because of Jebusites!
It is a happy day for believers to see, when they are separated from all that is of the world and of old life and realize that God is relying upon them to fulfill His plan. Even this joy is the beginning of much much more. . .
II Samuel 24:24-25 24‘But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on paying your for it. I will not sacrifice to the LORD my GOD burnt offerings that cost me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen and paid fifty shekels of silver for them.
25David built an altar to the LORD there and sacrificed burnt offerings fellowship offerings. The the LORD answered the prayer in behalf of the land, and the plague on Israel was stopped How great are His tender mercies, for even though we grieve Him, yet He forgives us.
The very spot where David was punished became the site of God’s House. II Chronicles 3:1 ‘Then Solomon began to build Temple of the LORD in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the LORD had appeared to his father David. It was on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite, the place provided David.’
I Chronicles 28:11 Then David gave Solomon the plans for the portico of the temple, its buildings, its store-rooms, its upper parts, its inner rooms and the place of Atonement.
I Chronicles 28:19 “All this,” David said, “I have in writing from the hand of the LORD upon me, and He gave me understanding in all the details of the plan.”
The joy of the Lord is your strength. But the joy of revelation of heavenly pattern and of knowing that God has called us to share in it, supercedes all other joys you may have experienced on other occasions.
In this joy you enter in to the plan and purpose of God, regarding His people, both now and in the ages to come. Pray then that the Lord will lead you from joy till joy till you come to the fullness of joy of the Lord, which is your strength – Amen!
JOY IN LEARNING We shall see how His divine laws will make our joy full and complete.
From the time God called David, He had for him a very high and heavenly purpose though David did not realize this for many years. At the time of being born again we are really concerned about being forgiven, washed, cleansed and made righteous before God and when He does begin to teach us His own way, we begin to question Him or even resist Him.
God could have told David from the very beginning to build His house in that place, but David was not ready then to receive such a command or instruction. It is only when we are truly ready and prepared that God can give us the instructions of His heart.
We all have to pay a heavy price to be God’s servants. We have to be prepared to be delivered from our chaff, especially the chaff in our brain! What is that chaff? In God’s sight it is all that we have secured through our own intellectual ability.
I Chronicles 15:28 ‘So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouts, with the sounding of rams’ horns and trumpets, and of cymbals, and the playing of lyres and harps.’
I Chronicles 16:1 ‘They brought the ark of GOD and set it inside the tent that David had pitched for it, and they presented burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before GOD.’
In the book of Numbers, the Lord had given His heavenly pattern for the transport of the ark. No man has any power or authority to change the divine order, whether he be a preacher or pastor, Indian or European, poor or wealthy!
David had to learn two lessons before God gave him the joy of bringing the ark to its right place. I-He had to learn that his brain must be completely free from all chaff and straw to make room for the wisdom of God. II-He had to learn that the divine order for God’s house must be very strictly and thoroughly maintained.
The Ark is compared to the Lamb, Our Lord Jesus Christ. He must be given His rightful place in your heart, in your home and in your church. When Saul was chosen to be king, he was crowned at once without any training. But it remitted eventually in his rejection by God because of his stubbornness and blindness.
But when God bought David to the throne, he had already undergone many hardships and trails. We may be preaching or praying or teaching or merely doing some menial task in the service of God, but if it is done for man’s pleasure, then it will not be acceptable to God.
If you perform anything for God at any time simply under compulsion or for what you can get out of it on earth, then there will be no reward for you in heaven. GOD DEMANDS A WILLING SERVICE
JOY IN UNION Isaiah 60:5 ‘. . . . As a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your GOD rejoice over you.’
The object of all His dealings with us is to fellowship with Himself. That goal, towards which He is drawing us to step by step that we cannot draw back, is the highest joy of perfect oneness and union with our Lord. The word FELLOWSHIP is a unique word in the Bible and no one can truly understand it, who is not born again.
