Laptops for Learning Key Messages • They will be excited and they will want to use them • Talk to students – what do they want to learn, how do • they want to learn? • Students walk into the classroom equipped with a range of • skills and experiences • Encourage students to problem solve • Support and encourage peer teaching.

Laptops for Learning Key Messages • Don’t be afraid to take risks, experiment and explore • Start small • Take on the role as the ‘coach’ • Start downloading and filing resources • You don’t need to know how to use all the software • Planning your lessons takes time upfront but saves time • down the track • Support each other • Don’t be afraid to ask for help • Always have a plan B.

Laptops for Learning Key Messages • Try to get the students to use the technology to • construct an original artefact that demonstrates their • understanding of a concept/idea • Teach them to summarise (Inspiration is good for this) • Pre-search and have specific links for students • You don’t have to use the laptop for the whole lesson.

  6. Laptops for Learning Key Messages • Set classroom rules • Provide the students with the ‘how to’ instructions • Move around the room • Allow time for students to back up their work.
