This Presentation Will Include… • A continuous improvement model incorporating assessment of learning outcomes, program review and budget allocation • General preparations for implementing guided pathways and performance-based funding. • MSJC resources: webpages, continuous improvement manual, glossary

  3. Students are the “center of the universe” for our college

Internally, what drives improvement of learning (and everything else)? • “Continuous Improvement”: Constantly striving to do a better job! • Some foundational elements of the continuous improvement process: • Data-driven decision making (assessment and program review) and budget allocation • Collaboration (cooperating experts) • Improving your improvements (“Closing the Loop”)!

  5. What Can You Do To Improve Continuous Improvement? Dig Into Your Data!

  6. Digging deeper into the body and its systems improves a doctor’s diagnosis.

  7. “Moneyball”: Create and utilize new statistics, digging down through “good players” to “runs scored.”

  8. “Moneyball” Baseball Culture Shift… To win the most games for the least amount of money, rather than employing “good players”, focus on scoring runs :

  9. Digging down into and through classrooms, counseling orientations, office visits to the individual students generates specific learning improvements.
