  3. Life William Hamilton's scientific career included the study of geometrical optics, classical mechanics, adaptation of dynamic methods in optical systems.

  4. Mathematical Studies Hamilton contributed to the development of optics, dynamics, and algebra. In particular, discovering the algebra of quaternions. Quaternions: Generalization of two-dimensional complex numbers to three dimensions. His work proved significant for the development of quantum mechanics.

  7. Life In Taylor's youth, he was educated by a private tutor. His father also would encourage the young Taylor to pursue a talent for poetry and music, the latter of which Taylor applied his mathematical knowledge to in later years.
