Inventory Management - 3DMultiVision Software and MVL System Eran Perlstein, Customer Support Director
Agenda • Multi Scanner System – MVL • Introduction • System Components • Wiring • Positioning • Installation • Configuration • 3DVision & 3DMultiVision • Overview • Installation • Server • Client APM Annual International Partners Conference
What is the Multi Scanner System? • The solution for wide silos, open bins and warehouses • Multiple 3DLevelScanners cover larger volume • APM Multi Scanner Controller synchronizes and merges the measurements from the 3DLevelScanners • 3DVision Server is the management application to collect data from all scanners in the vessel and merge into a single vessel • 3DVision Client software enables multiple users, via a network. to view real-time measurement and 3D images • Single 4-20mA volume output from any of the scanners • GPRS based support via 3DLinkPro available • It is highly recommended to have Internet connection to the Controller APM Annual International Partners Conference
MVL – System Components • System Controller – a management computer running the 3DVision Server application • Multiple 3DLevelScanners model MVL (minimum 2 units) • 3DVision Software (setup and visualization) • 3DLinkPro for remote wireless access (Optional) • Installations of 3DVision Clients on computers in the facility – require local area network APM Annual International Partners Conference
MVL – Connecting to the Controller • Locally using monitor, keyboard and mouse • Computer connected directly using a cross-wired Ethernet cable – recommended – cable is provided with the Controller • PCs on the LAN (local area network) • Internet connection (VPN, remote, etc.) APM Annual International Partners Conference
MVL – MVL2 Wiring sample • RS485 Communication – Twisted-pair, Shielded • Connection method – (RS485) Daisy Chain ONLY with 2 resistors of 120 Ohm on each side of the bus • Power and 4..20 – 4 wire Shielded Cable • 4-20mA output of all scanners is the same and represents the total volume in the vessel • Set different polling address to each scanner APM Annual International Partners Conference
MVL – 3DLinkPro wiring sample • Using the 3DLinkPro • The SIM card at the 3DLinkPro must have a Static IP Address • The 3DLinkPro connection is managed by the Controller using the following applications: • GPRS Dialer • GPRS Watchdog APM Annual International Partners Conference
MVL – Positioning • Using the Advanced Locator to position the scanner of an MVL system is mandatory • The logic behind the positioning for two scanners in a large silo is based on the following factors: • Maximal level of material and material shape at high levels • Location of peaks of material based on filling points • Cover the area bellow the filling point when the material is at high levels • Get the maximal coverage area when the material level is ~70% • Consider internal movements and devices to fill and empty the vessel • Available mounting options based on vessel and customer’s data APM Annual International Partners Conference
MVL – Installation Procedure • Connect to the Controller via VNC with a laptop (using a cross over network cable) – more details • Shut down the 3DVision Server Application • Connect to the scanners using 3DLevel Manager • Make sure the most up to date firmware is installed in the scanners • Reset to Factory Settings • Configure each scanner individually (same as any standard scanner) • Make sure that the vessel dimension are the same in all scanners • Full and Empty calibration levels must be on the same level in all scanners • Activate the 3DVision Server application • Activate a 3DVision client application and create a new project – more details • Save and start working with the 3DVision APM Annual International Partners Conference
MVL – Setting Full & Empty Calibration • Full Calibration is in reference to the scanner's Z position • When two scanners are installed at different Z positions, they must have different Full Calibration values • Z position is calculated from the bottom of the vessel, Full Calibration is measured from the flange of the scanner. • Scanner 1 is installed at Z1 position and configured for Full Calibration (FC1), same with the second scanner • The calculation of Z position of the scanner minus the distance to the full calibration must be equal between all scanners • If we put it into a formula it would be:Z1 - FC1 = Z2 - FC2 • Same calculation applies to Empty Calibration APM Annual International Partners Conference
3DVision Server • Connected to the local network with Static IP Address via Ethernet Port #1 – need to be assigned by local IT personnel • Default port 22222 • In MVL system the Server synchronize between the scanners operation and combines the results of each scanner to a complete vessel measurements including Level/Distance, Volume, Mass and 3D Image • Combines 4-20mA output of MVL scanner’s in the same bin APM Annual International Partners Conference
3DVision Server • Right click on the server application icon at the task pane (bottom right corner) opens the following menu: • Server Version – shows the version installed on the PC. • Open Server Output Folder – to view location of the stored files • Show/Hide Server Console – shows the window with server’s communications • Run GPRS Watchdog – execute the watchdog process in case a 3DLinkPro is in use • Close Application and Server Execution – terminates the server’s activity APM Annual International Partners Conference
3DVision Client • Able to run on any PC in the local network • Configuring the Server’s vessels is done through the Client, a connection is defined as a project and should be configured by a certified technician • User management • Allow material and color assignment • Create reports • Selectable views of measured parameters • Level alerts 3DMultiVision (License required) • Allows viewing multiple vessels at the same time • Various views arrangements: Material, Layout, Name APM Annual International Partners Conference
3DVision Client • When running the 3DVision Client a Server Connection window will popup • Enter server’s IP address, port number and give it a name (will be stored on your local PC for next connection), press Connect • Enter username and password (default: admin, admin) APM Annual International Partners Conference
3DVision Client • After logging in to the 3DVision Server, you will be prompted to start a new project or open an existing one • Click New Project to create a new project. The Project wizard window appears • Enter a name for the project and set the number of sites to be monitored, press Next APM Annual International Partners Conference
3DVision Client • Set the site name, number of vessels and number of scanners in each vessel • Set and configure the communication type • Press finish to return to the 3DVision Client main window to complete configuration APM Annual International Partners Conference
3DVision Client • Select the vessel and select the scanner to be configured and press the Parameters tab • Set the relevant parameters according to the actual installation including polling address APM Annual International Partners Conference
3DVision Client • Follow the same method of configuration with all scanners • Save the project • Connect the scanners and vessels and confirm the settings • Set for each vessels it’s required measurements to view • Create materials – Name and Color • Assign Materials to each vessel APM Annual International Partners Conference
3DVision & 3DMultiVision • The 3DMultiVision enables real-time assessment of inventories of bulk solids and powders stored vessels of any type or size • Provides managers with accurate and timely information on which to base critical decision-making for successful plant management • The 3DMultiVision works in conjunction with the APM’s 3DLevelScanner non-contact volume sensors to provide measurement data • The application collects data from the monitored vessel and generates reports that can be used to increase operational efficiency and provide valuable real-time and historical data • The 3DMultiVision enables you to perform the same functions for groups of vessels, even across multiple sites in large geographic regions, combines and merges the data, and generates reports • Managers and staff with appropriate authorization can view this information from any location in the world over a common LAN, WAN or wireless communication • The 3DVision is limited to a single vessel and used in MVL systems APM Annual International Partners Conference
3DMultivision Next Version • Provided as a 3DMultiVision free for use for 30 days, then a license is required • Demo mode is added to the 3DVision • The Demo mode is designed to train and show the capabilities of the application without the need to make a connection to a scanner • To activate the Demo mode, press Tools Run Demo APM Annual International Partners Conference
