M2PA Changes • Changes in M2PA version 01 • draft-ietf-sigtran-m2pa-01- November 22, 2000 • IETF SIGTRAN WG item • Supercedes draft-george-sigtran-m2peer-02 • Added to 1.8.1: list of MTP3/M2PA primitives • Added 1.9: Differences between M2PA and M2UA • Added section 3: M2PA States
M2PA Issues • Open issues • LI octet and Japanese SS7 - New message type? • State transitions (section 3) - Add details • Associations and links - Add another example to 4.1.2 • Processor Outage - Procedure like MTP2, or fail link like ATM? • Common header • Proving period - What to check for? • Can Link Initialization be made symmetric?
M2PA Future • M2PA Future Plans • Resolve issues and add detail • M2PA Applicability Statement • M2PA MIB • Unique Port and SCTP Protocol Ids • Last Call around March 2001 (IETF Minneapolis)
LI Octet Options • Options for LI Octet • Spare bits used in Japanese SS7 for MTP3 priority • 1. Begin User Data at LI • 1a. Always 8-bit LI field • 2. LI in User Data in Japan, not elsewhere • 3. Optional parameter with Priority in Data Message • 4. SG sets priority based on type of message • 5a. Put Priority into SIO spare bits • 5b. Precede SIO with octet including Priority • 6. TLV parameter for MTP3/MTP2 information • 7. Priority in Common Header • 8. New message type
M2PA Changes • Changes in M2PA version 00 • draft-ietf-sigtran-m2pa-00- November 9, 2000 • New title • Clarified level 2 and 3 congestion procedures • Removed references to adding/removing headers • SLCs mapped but not processed • Processor Outage: Do not transmit messages • SCTP notifications have priority over User Data and Link Status
