The Economy & Natural Resources of SE Region • ½ of the country’s paper comes from the trees this region • Georgia is famous for its peaches • Florida is a leading producer of oranges, grapefruit, and tangerines. • Well known farm products of this region are: cotton, tobacco, and peanuts. • Fish & shrimp are obtained from the Atlantic ocean and the Gulf of Mexico • Kentucky & West Virginia are leading producers in coal • Louisiana is well known for its oil • Coal is used for printing ink and plastics • Crude oil is sent to a refinery. Then it is turned into other products. • Refinery: factory
