Red wines are quite demanding before and after you pour them out of the bottle. Before serving red wine, you must choose the perfect crystal wine glasses. After the wine is over, you have to deal with tough red wine stains and cloudiness. If, by mistake, you leave some red wine in the glass overnight, you are up for a challenge the following day. This article shares a four-step process and three bonus tips to remove red wine stains without damaging the glass.
Step 1: Fill a microwave-safe bowl with water and heat it until it simmers. You can also heat the water on the gas, but be careful of the temperature. Step 2: Place a bottle of distilled white vinegar in the water for five to ten minutes. However, be careful not to put a plastic bottle in the hot water as the bottle can melt and deform. Step 3: Pour the warm vinegar into the bowl of the wine glasses and let it sit for a while. You can also fill a plastic tub with warm white vinegar and soak the glasses for about one to two hours. Step 4: Use a wine glass brush to rinse the glass. You can also wrap a microfiber dishcloth on a fork or bamboo skewer to scrub the bottom of the bowl of the glass. Wash the glass as usual and dry it with a microfiber cloth. ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢
Bonus tip 1: The same warm vinegar soak will clean residual detergents, fingerprints, lipstick marks or any other cloudy film left on the glass. But it will not remove scratches or etching from washing the glasses in hard water or scrubbing them too hard. Bonus tip 2: After step 4, if the stains remain, fill half of the wine glass with vinegar and add a spoonful of baking soda. You will see some fizzing! This reaction will loosen the wine stain. Bonus 3: Bonus tip 2 involves a chemical reaction; therefore, delicate glasses like champagne flutes may break if not handled cautiously. ➢ ➢ ➢ ❑ Raise a Toast With Brierly Hill Crystal: In the mood for some Pinot Noir, Merlot, or Shiraz?
