8 Awesome Destinations Which Are Ideal for an October Getaway Check out these travel hotspots which you should consider visiting in October… Summer 2019 is coming to an end and the chill in the air will soon approach, but the seasonal blues don’t have to kick in just yet… Why not plan an autumn getaway? The October half term will soon be here which is a great excuse to jet set off somewhere, and a bonus is that the prices are cheaper as it’s not a peak travel time. Whether you want a long-haul escape or want to catch the last days of summer sun on a Europe weekend break, there is bound to be an October getaway for you. We’ve picked out some great destinations to visit during this month for some travel inspo, some of which host epic events and festivals. Munich, Germany Munich makes for the ultimate city break in October with lots of cosy autumnal elements, a highlight being the beautiful foliage which you can admire at the city’s gardens, lakes and forests. October is a perfect time to explore Munich’s architectural wonders and pastel coloured buildings. The Auer Dult takes place during the October half term; this is one of the oldest markets in the city, dating back to 1310 with lots of entertainment and a beer garden vibe. You could alternatively visit during the famous Oktoberfest, the largest beer festival in the world which is actually held in late September. Lufthansa offers a daily direct flight service to Munich, which is a major airport hub of the airline.
Mauritius Mauritius is a paradise destination with tropical settings, beachside resorts, delicious creole cuisines and much more. Visiting here during October is ideal as its warm and dry here during this time, plus the humidity levels aren’t very high. It’s the best time to experience the beaches and embark on outdoor adventures such as daytrips to national parks. It’s spring time here in October, so the landscapes are in full bloom. Diwali is also celebrated here at this time of year and with the island’s large Hindu population, it will be a super- colourful spectacle to witness. Vietnam If you want to escape somewhere far away this autumn, then you should look into Vietnam. It’s very warm here in October with occasional tropical rain that you’ll probably welcome with open arms. You can sample delicious Vietnamese cuisines and coffee, visit beautiful beaches, villages and historic sites and stay in a luxury hotel at the cheap at this beautiful South Asian country. Average daytime temperatures are way up there in the twenties, and it’s considerably hotter in the south of the country with a lot less rain compared to the summer months. Dubai, UAE Dubai is a sweltering summer destination all year round but the weather is pretty much perfect during October. With temperatures in their late twenties to early thirties, it’s not unbearable and intense and you’ll still definitely catch a tan. Dubai is an all-rounder… You can choose to sit back on the pristine beaches, check out architectural wonders, enjoy alfresco dining, go on a shopping spree at the air-conditioned mega malls, explore the local souqs, head out to the immense theme parks and waterparks or even venture to the desert for a once-in-a-lifetime excursion. Lanzarote, Spain Lanzarote is a great choice for an October half term holiday, especially for families. It forms part of the Canary Islands so warm and pleasant weather is guaranteed all year round due to its proximity to Africa. It isn’t as hot in October in Lanzarote, but temperatures are still high enough to enjoy some winter sun with blissful sandy beaches, volcanic landscapes, fun water sports opportunities and all-inclusive resorts with great entertainment and kids clubs. Cyprus Cyprus is idyllic for October getaways. It’s a very charming island set within the Mediterranean with sandy coves, bays, beaches, delicious seafood and authentic cultures with a mixture of Turkish and Greek influences. The temperatures have dropped in October but the average is still about 22°C due to its prime location in the Middle East, so it’s definitely still t-shirt weather and warm enough to take a dip in the crystal-clear waters, explore local villages and vineyards and enjoy the country’s bustling night scene with lots of great al fresco bars and restaurants. Perugia, Italy Perugia is the hill-top capital city of Umbria which has a mild climate during October with an average temperature of around 19°C.
