Preconference • Each day in preconference you will discuss your cards • Complete your cards according to your room assignment • Example: If you are assigned to the Toddler room you will bring your completed Toddler card and participate in the preconference discussion

Acute Care Peds • Parking in the furthest garage area from the hospital • Be ready to go at 0700 on the 7th floor • Assignments will be posted behind nurses station • I&O is charted for every child • Vital signs ever 4 • Chart in Celcius • If febrile, 37.9 or above, notify me IMMEDIATELY • Apical pulse please • BP on all children at 0800. • Post op children VS are q 4 hr for 24 hours
Acute Care Pediatrics • Hershey Med Center 7th floor • Pin HACC ID at waist level or use adhesive tape for label • Meet at nurses station • Receive report at 0700 • Tour after report • Review IV pumps
Acute Care Worksheet • Full assessment • All mediations listed; use white sheet • ALL labs and WHY they were done EVEN IF YOU HAVE NORMAL VALUES • Clusters and concept map • I will also need your tool with antedotes
Acute Care • Weights are to be obtained prior to breakfast KG • Head circumference CM • Height Inches • Students are responsible for the daily baths by 10 AM • All IV are on a pump with a 2 hour limit. Do not disconnect IV tubing from pump. Call instructor • May complete tube feedings, add to feedings as long as instructor is observing
Acute Care • Know correct fluid, rate and amount • Dynamaps are to be turned off when not in use, Please wait til CAN is completed with dynamap before you take hers. This is often viewed as crime punishable by death • Pain assessment, I&O, vital signs, treatments, Routines
