  2. MSF in Mexico • Mission Statement • Through its activities on behalf of the OCG in Mexico and Central America, the MSF Office in Mexico works to add value and to support the MSF social mission and operations, finding financial, human and programmatic resources.

  3. HISTORY • MSF in Mexico office registered as an Associación Civil in March 2008 • Donataria Autorizada status obtained as from 2009 • Mass fundraising techniques tested end 2009 / early 2010 • Strategy @ 2010: invest in MSF positioning • 2012: Application for Branch Status

  4. GENERAL MANAGEMENT • Join venture OCBA / OCG • Regional Representation • March 2012: • 2nd Annual Regional Meeting • 3rd Regional Operational Meeting • 1st Regional Coms Meeting • Exchange with other MSF Offices in Americas: • Argentina • Brazil • USA • Canada

COMMUNICATION • Media Coverage • Weekly Press Release • Average monthly mentions: 115 • Average aired interviews: 4.9 • 2 Blogs: 1 weekly & 1 monthly • Digital Media • Average monthly web visitors: 6,395 • Friends & followers: 6,950 (FB Mexico) + 7,619 (FB Spanish) = 14,569 • Twitter followers: 2,010 • Brand Development • Brand awareness evolution: 2010: 14% - 2011: 23% • Ad campaign “What do you know about us?” (BTL, Print, Web, Radio & Social networks). Launch: August 2012 • TV series: “Mexicanos en el Terreno”30 min. chapters about life stories of expats.

  8. RECRUITMENT • 35 departures in 2011 • Good retention (e.g. 3 in emergency pool) • 55% French speaking • Low number of applications • Many internal & external info sessions + conferences

  10. SUPPORT • Punctual ComOps support to GT/HN/MX + specific Coms support to Urban Survivors • Host position of Regional operational Advisor • Assist in regional representation / positioning • Administrative support to OCBA mission + OCG Explo Mission (Sept. 2012 ?)

ASSOCIATIVE INTERESTMEXICO & CENTRAL AMERICA Survey April 2012 – 37 participants • 75% (28) in favor of joining MSF LAT • 19 want the creation of a sub-group MX/CA • 46% (17) in favor of a new Regional MX/CA Association • 10 after joining MSF LAT • 7 from start • High interest in active participation in association. e.g.: 17 willing to apply as board members

  12. ASSOCIATIVE INTERESTMEXICO & CENTRAL AMERICA CONCLUSION • Actively invite potential members from our region to join MSF LAT • Creation of a Sub – Group / Hub • Forsee possible future split • Support MSF LAT – Funding / HR – Associative Coordinator • Exchange / Feed-into MSF LAT

  13. OCBA OPERATIONS IN MEXICO • Mission set-up: Oct, 20120 • Transmigrant Program – Southern Border / MX • Oaxaca – Ixtepec: Albergue Pastoral Humana. Started treating patients: Feb, 2012 • Chiapas – Arriaga: Albergue / Opening June 2012 • Victims of extreme violence, marginalization & neglect. • Medical care for victims of violence & trauma / Medical preventive actions • Services of promotion, prevention & care in mental health

  14. OCBA OPERATIONS IN MEXICO • Emergency 6-week intervention ongoing at albergue “Lechería”, in Mexico State • Chagas explo planned: July 2012 (?) Note: Regional Cell in charge is moving to Buenos Aires, August 2012
