DfE Updates 2019 Revision to Mandatory Qualifications and Professional Body Membership Criteria Role name changes • Specialist Mentor – Mental Health Difficulties (MH) • Specialist Mentor – Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) • Specialist one to one Study Skills and Strategy Support – Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) • Specialist one to one Study Skills and Strategy Support – Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) • Assistive Technology Trainers (AST) • Please use these role names on your timesheets

  10. DfE Updates • New qualification and professional body membership matrix • Only affects new DSA funded NMHs from June 2019 • SLC announced tendering exercise for the supply of (SFE) DSA Needs Assessments as well as for Assistive Technology and training. • DSA-QAG closing but QAF to remain

DSA Support • Check that you have the Needs Assessment report and Letter of Entitlement (LOE) on your case for you student. • Check the DSA LOE for agreed hours (may be updated or vary from year to year) • Plan hours (additional hours not guaranteed) • If a student returns from intermitting, is post-grad or doesn’t have a loan they will need to re-apply each year. • If in doubt, please email accessibilityadmin@fxplus.ac.uk

  14. Paperwork updates • Timesheets/cover sheets must be submitted weekly and by 1st working day of the month • Mandatory training (claim for admin) • End of year PDR – paid at £35/hour • CSSRS Columbia Scale Training - £18/hour • Online GDPR Module - £18 • Complete Claim Form & Submit to Jane

  15. 2019/20 Support Allocations • Allocations of support for new 19/20 students has started • Allocated based on qualifications, DSA-QAG registration, capacity and course based requests • Email to confirm new students – all details on your Compass case • 3 attempts of contact using different methods over 2 weeks – if no response pass back

  17. DSA-QAG Audit 19/20 • Areas for improvement • The NMH provider must make sure that all sessions are booked and confirmed with the student before attending. (8/80 samples) • Students should be contacted using their preferred method of communication to arrange their session within 1 working day of receipt of request for support. (23/80 samples)

  18. DSA-QAG Audit 19/20 • Full explanation of concerns - Helen • Detailed guidance and standard responses provided by Nikki • Quality checking will be carried out to ensure compliance

  21. Wellbeing Offer • Group Supervision • Available for all NMHs to discuss cases/advice/guidance • Monthly (term time) with experienced MH practitioner • Confidentiality • Dates/times/locations to be confirmed
