  2. Introduction In complex warehouses there are multiple picking locations and there are thousands of picks to be performed each hour. In such warehouses, the warehouse staff has to be accurate as well as fast so that customer orders are fulfilled. Over the years, there have been a number of technological advances in warehouse systems and one of those is the “pick to light” method.   3. How Pick To Light Works The basic system will include lights above the racks or bins where the employee will be picking from. Barcode of particular order is assigned to picking container. Container then goes to the picking zone. An operator will scan a barcode that is on a picking container which represents the customer order. This launches the order sequence in line of racks. light gets on at required product location and display number of items to be picked. Once the pick location is illuminated, the operator will select the item for the order with quantities displayed, and put the product in container. After picking, operator hit the confirm button. The operator knows the picking for the order is complete when no further lights are illuminated.   4. Features A light-guided system will give real-time feedback on order picking and the productivity of the operator. This reporting can be used to identify picking issues and how productivity is improving. The light-directed systems do not require any language requirements as only numbers are displayed.
