There are many traditional items of clothing in a Russian costume. Some Russian women used to wear a cloth coot and kokeshnik (women’s headdress in old Russia). On holidays they wore long-sleeved shirt and long skits with frills. They put s kerchief on a head.
They decorated their costumes with embroidery, necklace. They wore sarafan and sun-frocks in summer. In winter it was customary to put on shawi, winter coat and valenkis.
Men had Russian blouse with a side fastening and sharovary (wide trousers). In winter they dressed in a sheepskin (coot) with gridle and mittens.
In summer men and women wore bast sandals. Later they wed to wear top-boots. The most traditional materials were cotton, lines, furs, leather.
