When To Pray • Always Luke 18:1-8; 1 Thess. 5:17 • When suffering James 5:13 sick James 5:14 Why Pray? • Not to inform God Matt. 6:8 • God answers prayer 1 John 5:15 • Draw us closer to God Heb. 10:19-23; 4:14-16 • Adoration: praise & expression of love • Confession of sin: acknowledge God’s holiness • Thanksgiving; acknowledge God’s kindness • Supplication; acknowledge dependency on God

Who To Pray • The righteous not the wicked Prov. 15:8, 28:9 • The penitent wicked 1 Kings 21:27-28; 2 Chronicles 32:10-17 • All have sinned Romans 3:23 • Jesus died to make forgiveness possible v.24-26 • Must believe Heb. 11:6, James 1:6 • Must listen to God, obey • Obedience is how we ask God 1 Peter 3:21, Romans 10:10,13, Acts 22:16 • Penitent Christian Acts 8:18-24
