Proposal From Mar ‘03 • Build barrel (pixel+strips) as Project 1 • possible $3M from RIKEN (JY03-JY05) • possible $5M from DOE (FY05-06) • Build endcap (one or two) as Project 2 • possible $4-5M from DOE (FY06-07) • possible PHENIX/France • DOE • CD0 merit, technical, manpower, costs • CD1 preliminary baseline, preliminary design • CD2 approve baseline, start final design • CD3 start construction • CD4 start operations • Need to get CD0 by Fall 03 Craig Ogilvie

  2. CD0 Needs • Scientific merit • Feasible technical options • General range of project costs and construction schedule • WBS, manpower, contingency analysis • Management structure • collaboration, institutions, names Craig Ogilvie

Proposed Schedule CD0 - Project 1 • June – August • develop simulations, physics • address questions raised during phenix-LOI Mar ‘03 • WBS, costs, schedule …. • Meet @BNL core week August 12-15 to review these • submit revised phenix-LOI • phenix-ec vote? • First draft of CD0 documents middle of Sept • CD0 documents submitted to DOE middle of Oct • Discussion/ agreement of schedule Craig Ogilvie

  4. Tasks/People: Commitment Needed June- Aug • Simulations (Yasuyuki, PLM, Victor, Jeff, …) • physics case, x-range, first look at integration HBD/TPC, • WBS (Craig, Yuji) • 0th level WBS started ISU MBA student (Dennis Grove) • working iteratively with Vince, Johann, Dave L, … • re-link up with PHENIX (Ed, Peter Kroon…) • Costs (Craig, Yuji) • iterate from Mar ’03 • Technical options, existing knowledge sufficient for CD0 • continue with R&D Craig Ogilvie
