The Process • Block-out leisure, work and school time. • The most difficult should appear more regularly in your plan. • Mix in one evening subjects you enjoy most and least. • Revise in 30min bursts with short breaks. Rank subjects most difficult to least difficult. Identify topics within subjects. Identify the barriers and remove them. Decide what time you plan to commit.

This is the (new) 9-1 specification • GCSE grades are no longer graded A* - G but will be 9-1. • Your children will be taking both English Language and English Literature GCSEs – that’s two GCSEs and four exams.
English Language • 2 papers: • Paper 1, Explorations in creative reading and writing 1 hour 45 minutes 5th of June 2018 • Paper 2, Writers’ viewpoints and perspectives 1 hour 45 minutes 8th of June 2018 • If you fail English Language at school, you must retake this throughout the next stage of your education.
English Literature A Christmas Carol Romeo and Juliet • 2 papers: • Paper 1, Shakespeare and the 19th century novel, 1 hour 45 minutes 22nd of May 2018 • Paper 2, Modern texts and poetry, • 2 hours and 15 minutes 25th of May 2018 These exams are both before summer half term The AQA Anthology and unseen poetry An Inspector Calls
How can you help? • Reading Every day- ensure that at least 15 minutes in addition to any revision is spent on reading • GCSE Pod • BBC Bitesize • YouTube (Stacy Reay, Mr Bruff) • Thursday after school! • Full sentences • Revision Guides: We have given the pupils revision guides, but there are many others out there- specific to the Literature texts, aimed at SPAG and creative writing for Language.
Using Past Papers Practicing past exam questions and using mark schemes to check answers is a vital tool for preparing for the exams. Being familiar with the style, complexity and types of questions that will be faced will develop confidence as well as understanding.
