Perhaps you can put down the items in your plan on a sticker and put it in a place where you could constantly see. So it will remind you what you have planned to do from time to time. 4. 问：Professor Liu and Ms Chang, very nice to meet both of you on line. I`m Mao Donghui from Ningbo. I am the tutor of English in Current Affairs as well as that of Cross-cultural Communication in my RTVU. Two things worry me most before I give the revision tutorial to my students. One is that last term, there was a big change in the items in the examination paper of Cross-cultural Communication. So I hope that in Current English there will be no such change. And the other thing is that the TV programs of reviewing this course hosted by Ms Chang was the ones that were made two years ago. I wonder if there is a new one. 刘黛琳：Item types. It is lovely to see your message on the screen. Now here is the answer. Yes, there was some inconsistency in last year's CCC exam. It shouldn't happen this year. So the item types for English in Current Affairs should be the same as before. And the live programme was made before and there is no new one since there are only limited time slots for live programmes.

Remember to read the questions before you listen to the recording, and it always helps greatly if you listen with the questions in mind.

As long as you have been working seriously with all the listening tasks during the term, you should be OK for the exam. The only thing you can do now is to listen to some of the listening stuff of the course and get familiar with the types of item in the exam paper. During the exam, do remember to make use of the pauses before each listening material to read through all the questions you are required to answer. It always helps a lot if you listen to the stuff with the questions. Then you know what to listen to and where to look for the answers.

7. 问：我们考试的题量大吗？时间够吗？ 答：Time for the exam. You have got 30 minutes for the listening, 60 minutes for reading and 30 for writing. The time for listening is controlled by the recording. But you have to watch out your time for reading and writing. There are four passages for reading and you should be able to finish within 60 minutes. But you have to remember that you don't need to read every passage in the same way or in great detail. Try to use the skills of skimming and scanning in finding the answers to the questions. This is the only purpose for your reading in the exam. If you want to understand every word in the passage, you certainly need more time. It is not necessary for the exam. So the speed of reading in the exam is crucial. For the writing, You simply have to time your self and write what is asked. It's better to plan your writing first. If you follow those rules, your time should be enough for the exam.

8. 问：How can I have a good score? 答：Work hard. If you have followed the course seriously and have done all the tasks, you will have a good score.

9. 问：口语的评分标准是什么啊？ 答：Oral test. The criteria for the speaking activity include fluency, accuracy, range of vocabulary, content as well as intonation..

Yes, first you should have something to say and then speak it out in English. There are eight units in the course, covering 8 different topics. You can practise talking about those topics using the language introduced in the book. You can always find a partner and practise with the person. You need a lot of practice to become fluent in speaking. However, it takes time. What you can do now is to focus on the eight topics.

Listen to the radio, cassettes and watch the TV programmes or films in English. You need constant practice. Nowadays it is not difficult to get hold of listening stuff in English.

13. 问：时事内容很活，该怎样掌握呢？ 答：The focus for this course is on skills, especially reading. So you should practise those communication skills. For listening, you are expected to reach Level 4 by the end of Year Two. Listening in this course is not as difficult as that.

14. 问：I do work hard, but I find it a little difficult。 答：Seek help. As a distance learner, you are supposed to seek help from your tutor in the course of your study. Do you go to the tutorials and do you turn to your tutors for help? Tell them what you find difficult in your study and it is not a good idea to leave all your problems at the end of the course.

15. 问：How to master the inportence 答：About 重点。I quite understand that examinees are very eager to know about what will be included in the test. But unfortunately English test is not like any other tests, we can't tell what is more important. This is because language learning is a process, which involves a lot of skills, such as listening, reading, speaking and writing. And all these can't be tested in a real sense if the examinees have already known what is in the test. So please work hard and just forget about the important points.
