In July 2009, Jim Moore was left 17 boxes of Christian books by a friend who died • He decided to share them with other Christians as a Library • Central Baptist Church had a small Library, and agreed to let Jim add these books in and open to other Churches • Opened Sept 2009, • with 1,000 books • and 8 bookcases, • in a corner of the • Church How did it start?

  4. 3 years on, we have grown! • 4,700 books, in 35 bookcases • 4 areas of the church building • Staff team from: Central Baptist, Church Hill Baptist, Emmanuel Christian Centre, Walthamstow. Woodford Evangelical Church, Ridgeway Church, Chingford; Grace Church, Hackney • Website – www.christianlibrary.org.uk Where are we now?

  6. To encourage Christians to read good books • For the 'average' Christian, i.e. not a 'theological' library • But has a lot of study books now • An Inter-Church Library - publicised among 70 local churches • Accessible – open monthly, free, refreshments, recommendations Our Aims

  7. Christian People • Life stories, collected writings, etc. • 9 bookcases, over 1,500 books Our Books

  8. Christian Living • Organised in A-Z topics, from ‘Answers’ to Youth work’ • 11 bookcases, over 1,400 books Our Books

  9. Bible Study • Commentaries (Genesis to Revelation), Concordances, Dictionaries, Bible study aids, etc. • 10 bookcases, with about 1,400 books Our Books

  10. For Children, for Young People • Novels, Bible Story books, etc. • 2 bookcases, about 200 books • Christian History • Churches, Denominations, Missions, etc. • 3 bookcases, about 250 books Our Books
