  1. The Alternative Learning System of the Department of Education • include Basic Literacy, Accreditation & Equivalency • and the Advanced Level – Bridge Program (Employment , Tech-Voc or College Education)

  2. ALS is different from formal education because it teaches basic life skills through the use of printed modules rather than having classes in the formal setting • Modules that are: • Self paced • Self-instructional • Indigenous • Integrated

  3. All passers of ALS accreditation tests get elementary or high school certificates signed by no less than the education secretary

  4. THE ALS MOBILE TEACHERS PROGRAM: • Makes education accessible to out-of-school youth and adults; • Raises level of literacy and • Improves quality of life of individuals and families in underserved communities
