Why does this happen? www.apchem.nagoya-u.ac.jp/image/ouka3.gif Oobleck is crazy like this because of the polymers it in. Well, they are trying to move in the oobleck. If you press this material had and fast the polymers get tangled up and they can’t move. So therefore, if you press this material lightly and slowly, the material will move because the polymers won’t get tangled up.

Hypothesis I think that the Oobleck is going to be a solid and a liquid at the same time. I think this because of the polymers inside this material. www.lbl.gov/.../February/assets/water_solid.jpg
Materials • The things that you will need are: • a disposable container, like an ice cream bucket • water • 1 box of cornstarch • A spoon • A pop sickle stick • a paperclip • Paper towels • newspaper http://sallyrideclub.com/content/20050401.4u2.article.oobleck.jpg
Procedure • place the newspaper down on a table or flat surface • place the ice cream bucket on the paper • Next, add the box of cornstarch to the bucket. • add a little bit of water at first and mix with your hands • add more water if the mixture is to thick • Try different things with the material like hitting it hard and fast, touching it softly and slowly, setting the paperclip in it, setting your hand on the top of the material, and scooping some up with a spoon. Observations I observed that Oobleck is a solid and a liquid. If you hit the Oobleck hard and fast, the Oobleck is hard. If you gently touch the Oobleck the material is in a liquid state. It’s very crazy! http://tep.mit.edu/events/rush/oobleck1.jpg
