  5. Some Facts about HUMA This poly-herbal preparation do not contain any heavy metals. The medicines are in liquid and powdered form. The medicines are orally administrated and are titrated time to time depending on the condition of the patient. Along with HUMA therapy the patients also receive conventional life support care. Adverse side effects are less because of individualized dosing. Medicines are prepared by the Huma Cancer Society & checked for batch to batch variations. Marked regression of cancer / tumor were observed in some patients suffering from oral and rectal malignancy.

We studied the effect of HUMA in 25 patient with oral malignancy Convention therapy was not offered to 20 patients because of the following problems: Financial problem - 10 (50.0 %) Did not get immediate date for RT - 02 (10.0 %) For Palliation - 03 (15.0 %) Faith in this alternative therapy - 05 (25.0 %) Five patients had earlier received conventional treatment.

  19. A patient who did not respond to HUMA therapy. This patient had earlier receive complete cycle of Radiotherapy.

Conclusions: • In absence of conventional cancer therapy the regression of tumor/lesion observed in some patients could be because of the poly-herbal therapy. • No adverse side effects were noticed in any of the patients. • A proper well designed controlled clinical study should be conducted to know the exact efficacy / toxicity of this formulation. • The herbs used in this therapy could provide important lead for new anti-cancer drug discovery programme.
