  3. A Mother Protects her Children • Nurturing lasts a lifetime • JOCHEBED: A mother’s protection Exodus 1:22-2:10 (Heb 11:23) • From hunger, with food • From ignorance, with truth • From selfishness, with charity • From unbelief, with faith (Proverbs 31:15, 19-22, 25-28) 3

  4. A Mother Protects her Children • Managing the home protects your child from loneliness and doubt, 1 Tim 5:14 • Teaching your child God’s word protects him/her from sin, Psa 119:9-11 • Setting examples of purity protects your child from evil as he/she learns holiness, 1 Peter 3:1-4 4

  5. A Mother Protects her Children • CHILDREN… • Honor your mother for the protection she gives you • Keep on listening, Prov 23:22-25; 19:26-27 • Obey your mother and be blessed, Prov 30:17 5

  6. A Mother Prays for her Children • Faith is the center of her life, Prv 31:10, 30 • HANNAH: A mother who was heard by God, 1 Samuel 1:10-12, 20 • Pray always for your children, 1 Ths 5:17 • Prayer shows you trust God to know what is best for your children, Judges 13:8 6

  7. A Mother Prays for her Children • CHILDREN… • Be wise and obedient to your mother so she has good answers to her prayers! Prov 17:25, 21; 15:20 (Eph 6:1-3) 7

  10. What a Debt we Owe our Mothers! • Do not “rob” your mother of the honor she is due, Prov 28:24 (30:11) • Honor her by being true to God (who gave us motherhood)! • Be wise: A fool despises his mother, Proverbs 15:20 10
