ALMIS Aviation Logistics Management Information System Overview for Air Stations Portal: http://cgweb.almis.uscg.mil Project: http://cgweb.arsc.uscg.mil/almis LCDR Daniel P. Taylor Feb 2002
Agenda • Why, Who, Where, How, What, When • Show production EAL • application, help, feedback links • Show production DSS • application, help, feedback links • Show next EAL version • Hands-on Decision Support System training • Your needs? • Timing and Breaks?
Why • Simplified diagram and explanation at: • http://cgweb.arsc.uscg.mil/almis/ppt/almis.ppt • Link maintenance and supply systems • Do I have parts for upcoming maintenance? • Fill gaps / enter data once from source • Didn’t that just break last month? • Why can’t I enter my blue sheets online? • Provide Decisions Support System (DSS) • Who needs this night boat flight? • What parts should ARSC buy this year? • How did other units fix that problem?
Who and Where • Project Mgr, CWO assistant, GS-12, contractors • Development done at ARSC ISD • Beta testing at mix of seven Air Stations • Working with ACMS and AMMIS mx staff • Provides challenge and opportunity • Changing B&W TV to Color while watching it • Partnering with Aviation Logistics Division • Using Cognos tools to get information out of database and into hands of people who can use it
How • Deliver incrementally • So why the flight schedule? • New MOE’s, start small, build familiarity • “Dual use” of old and new apps where able • Keep thin for high dial-up performance • Respond to user feedback • Consider cost versus value of information • Provide ample online help • Conduct extensive beta testing • Consider training needs for rollout
What • User-Customizable Portal • Virtually integrate aviation information • Electronic Aircraft Logbook • Source data entry (especially blue sheet) • Eliminate redundancies in AMMIS / ACMS • Capture unscheduled maintenance • Decision Support System • Right information, time, place, format… • OLAP, reporting, ad-hoc tools from Cognos • Same tools as CGINFO (http://cginfo.osc.uscg.mil) • ACMS and AMMIS integration • Link maintenance – operations -- supply
What – EAL • Phase 1 – Flight Schedule, Event Status, Aircraft Status, Planned Flt Hrs • Phase 2 – Blue Sheet • Phase 3 – Yellow / Pink Sheet (and associated forms) • <fleet-wide implementation begins> • Phase 4 – MPC and Supply Integration • Phase 5 – Online MPC Signoff • Phase 6 – ACMS Interface Replacement
What – DSS • Phase 1 – Aviation Inventory Control Point • Phase 2 – Reliability Centered Maintenance • Phase 3 – Flight Operations • Phase 4 – Finance and Procurement • Phase 5 – Unit Maintenance • Phase 6 – Depot Supply (Buy Model) • Phase 7 – Depot Maintenance
When • EAL Phase 1 in use today • Great online help at: • http://cgweb.almis.uscg.mil/eal/help/eal_help.htm • Everyone should use Flt Sched and Planned Flt Hrs, Event Cancellation • Beta units use Event Status and Aircraft Status • Phase 2 in use at beta units • Fleet-wide rollout after Phase 3 complete • Portions will be rolled out sooner • DSS in use today • Ample online help – starting point: • http://cgweb.arsc.uscg.mil/almis/webhelp/dss.htm
