Changes to the Learning Disability Development Fund. You will all know that the government and local councils need to save some extra money. This is because there is not enough money to do all the things that we do now.

You will all know that the government and local councils need to save some extra money. • This is because there is not enough money to do all the things that we do now.
Northamptonshire County Council have been looking at all of the money they have. • They have decided that some pots of money will have to be less. • A pot of money is sometimes called a budget
The Learning Disability Development Fund is one of the pots of money that needs to be cut. • This needs to happen this year.
The Learning Disability Development Fund also had some money saved up and some of this will need to be cut as well. • This is because it is needed to pay for other important services
Altogether we need to save £293 000 this year. • £ 87 000 of this comes from this years budget and • £ 206 000 of this comes from our savings
The funding panel met on Friday 9th July and looked at the things we might do to save the money. • They have made some recommendations for you as a Board to look at.
A recommendation is an idea or suggestion that the funding panel think is the best thing that they can think of.
• The funding panel think that we should not do the things in this list. • The amount of money that will be saved is written down as well.
• Not pay for the leadership course for people with a learning disability (£40 000) • Not have a county wide big meeting or event (£3 000)
• Not pay for new projects for helping people to join in their community (£35 000) • Give less money to work on employment (£5 000) • Give less money to work on housing (£5 000)
• Give less money to work on relationships (£15 000) • Give less money to work on health (£5 000) • Not having any spare money for urgent things, this is called a contingency (£20 000)
• Not having a team of person centred planning facilitators after March 2011. (£115 000) • Not using some extra money that we found out about (£50 000)
If we stop doing all of these things, we will save enough money. • We will still be able to do these things:
• Have a Partnership Board and 7 local Partnership groups although we may not have 2 full time workers to support the groups. • Pay for support and expenses for Local Partnership Group Reps
• Carry on with the good work on Person Centred Planning until March 2011. • Pay for part of the job that works with young people who are becoming adults.
• Pay to carry on with the Partnership Board newsletter for the rest of this year. • Pay and make sure that the housing plan is finished
• Keep the special worker to work with Black and Minority Ethnic communities until March 2011. • We also hope we may be able to keep the worker for some of next year too but this will depend on money next year.
• Pay and make sure that Keeping Safe Cards happen and the Keeping Safe Plan is agreed. • Pay and make sure that the We Can Work It Out Employment plan starts to happen.
• Pay for some work to carry on about relationships and sex education. • Pay for some of the work on health that the One Health Group have agreed should happen.
• Pay for the small projects that have been agreed as part of the Involving Everyone money that we told you about earlier in the 12.30 News.
• Some people with a learning disability who really wanted to learn more about leadership may be able to go on the Sharing the Knowledge Course that the Board has paid for. This starts in October.
Because it is already almost the end of July, we have already spent some of our money this year. • This means that we can not cut the things that we have already been paid for.
We do not know yet what the Government thinks should happen about all of Valuing People Now. • We do know that the 4 important things in Valuing People Now are still important to the new government.
These 4 things are: • Personalisation • Housing • Employment and • Health.
We do not know yet whether there will be any money for a Partnership Board or Valuing People after March 2011. • At the moment, we are hoping there will be some money for next year.
The funding panel want to know what the Board thinks of these recommendations. • We would like you to dot vote to see if you agree or not.
The County Council needs the Board to know that the final decision about how to save money will be made by the Council but they do want to hear what the Board thinks.
It is also possible that Northamptonshire County Council might need the Learning Disability Development Fund to save more money. • If this happens we will make sure you know about this. • This may be in a letter if we do not have a meeting straight away.
It is now time for dot voting. • Any questions?
