CCS PARTICIPANT CERTIIFCATES • Available for all athletes who participate in a CCS Championship Event • Downloaded and printed from a school’s page on the CCS secure website by Athletic Director or Administrator • Names of recipients can be typed in before printing! • Ideal for presentation at awards banquet or other appropriate award ceremony

The CCS Scholar-Athlete Scholarship Program will honor at least five (5) Central Coast Section students, as follows: One (1) female  student-athlete will be awarded a $1,500 scholarship; and One (1) male  student-athlete will be awarded a $1,500 scholarship; and At least three (3) to four (4) additional student-athletes will each be awarded a $500 scholarship. Minimum Qualifications: Be a graduating senior; Possess no less than a 3.5 grade-point-average (over 7 semesters, un-weighted); Score at least 1,500 on the (new) SAT or 21 on the ACT; Have competed at the VARSITY level for a CCS school for at least two (2) years; Be able to verify an exemplary record of positive athletic and non-athletic citizenship Special Note: Deadlines have changed for this year! SCHOLAR-ATHLETE SCHOLARSHIPS DATES TO NOTE: • *January, 2011Application materials distributed to member-schools • March 2, 2011(3:30PM) Completed application packets must be physically received in CCS Office • March 7-15, 2011 Applications evaluated; finalists selected; interviews scheduled • March 22-23, 2011 Finalists interviewed; winners selected and notified • April 13, 2011 Awards presented at CCS Board of Managers Meeting

JOYCE RIDGWAY AWARD • New Scholarship Award $500 • Female Athlete who exemplifies leadership, determination, dedication self-sacrifice and integrity • Minimum GPA 3.0 • Minimum 2 varsity teams • 3 letters of recommendations elaborating on student/athletes positive impact on team, school and community • More information on website

HONOR COACH AWARD • Who is eligible for nomination? • The nominee must be an active coach at the time of nomination. • The nominee must have coached the respective sport for a minimum of five (5) years at the varsity interscholastic level. • What kind of criteria should be considered for nominees? • Maintenance of professional standards of conduct. • General service to the respective sport. • Outstanding coaching accomplishments (not necessarily focused on win/loss record or championship titles). • Additional contributions to school and community. • Role model and inspiration/motivation to athletes, coaches, fellow teachers, administrators, parents, public. Due Dates: September 15th-Fall Sports December 15th-Winter Sports March 15th –Spring Sports See Handout

  14. TOURNAMENT SANCTIONING • A tournament is defined as involving athletes from 4 or more teams • CCS member schools hosting a tournament submit a completed sanctioning application by the scheduled deadlines • Fall season – April 10 • Winter season – September 10 • Spring season – December 1

  15. TOURNAMENT SANCTIONING(continued) • Tournaments inviting schools from non-neighboring states must apply online for NFHS sanctioning at www.nfhs.org • Note: NFHS fees have been reduced this year for member schools sponsoring tournaments

  16. Any scrimmage or game against ANY non-CIF opponent at ANY level requires a form 502 to be filed with the League Commissioner of any participating school. Upon the approval of the League Commissioner the request is forwarded to the CCS Commissioner for review and approval/non-approval. CONTESTS vs. NON-CIF OPPONENTS FORM 502

CONTESTS vs. NON-CIF OPPONENTS – ContinuedFORM 502 This includes (but is not limited to): • contests vs. schools from other states • contests vs. schools from other countries Note: In addition to the Form 502, any contest involving a school from another country must be sanctioned by the NFHS. Participating schools must apply online for NFHS sanctioning at www.nfhs.org. This does not include: • Alumni and/or faculty games (CCS bylaws allow for one faculty and/or alumni game at the Varsity level)

  18. SPORTSMANSHIP CONTRACT • Due date:September 15th • School acknowledgement of: • School specific sportmanship plan • Start date, maximum contest, practice bylaws.

INCIDENT REPORTING • Tracking of incidents reported by schools & officials • Reports filed: • 2009-2010: 302 • 2008-2009: 309 • Office staff tracks Incident Reports and reviews analysis with League Commissioners and address areas of concern • Office staff is working with officials organizations to insure timely, accurate, and thorough reporting of • sportsmanship incidents • CCS Board of Managers has addressed “charging the • court/field” sportsmanship and safety concern.
