  3. 1. Where do we stand ? • Current situation (sept. 2009) : • 80 repositories • among them 58 institutional repositories

  6. HAL (Hyper Articles en Ligne): • CNRS open archive launched in 2001 • and platform used for institutional repositories

  7. Summer 2006 : signature of a national agreement • HAL as central platform for all french research output • deposit either directly or from a local repository • Couperin involved in the process • a new impulsion is now needed

  8. 2. Didyousaymandate? • Funders : • ANR (Agence Nationale de la Recherche) : deposit in HAL required for ANR funded articles, not mandated (nov. 2007).

  9. Research institutions : • no institutional-level mandate (at the moment) but • some encouraging examples : • Grande Ecole : ISAE (space and aeronautics) 70 % • University lab : Loria (computer sciences) 73 % • Research organism : Ifremer (sea sciences) 80 %
