Stay informed about upcoming warmup exercises, lab sessions, reviews, and homework assignments for biology class. Don't miss important deadlines!
E N D
4/15 • Warmup – Water potential problems (next slide) (15 min) • Computer lab – 4th/5th Library, 6th Math • I’ll be checking your Cells and Metab Review Manual • While there, you have your choice: • Guided review (Chem Cells and Metab) (note – extra credit to the one I choose as the key) • Digital resources for chem and/or cells and metab. • Look at chem and/or cells tests • Mastering biology redo chem and/or cells • Ask me questions Homework – • Bring your CR and Photosynthesis posters for tomorrow • Guided review handout due Thurs • Purchased review manual = Cell Repro, Cell Signaling, and Mendel with Mitosis/Meiosis and Artificial Selection Lab and Pearson review Manual Mitosis/Meiosis lab due Wed
Water potential problems – use your formula sheet • Turn to p. 296 in Pearson and do the 2 problems there • Suppose a plant cell is placed in an open container of 0.1M NaCl solution at 25 degrees Celsius. What would the water potential of the solution be? Then draw out the following scenarios: • If the plant cell has an initial water potential of -3 bars, what direction do you predict water would flow? • If the plant cell has an initial water potential of -8 bars, what direction do you predict water would flow?
4/16 • 5 minute – review posters with neighbor • Cells and Metabolism FRQ – quickwrite and outline • Q&A – Big Idea Pwpt. and manual practice questions • Q&A – Unit Test Homework – • Guided review handout due Thurs • Purchased review manual = Cell Repro, Cell Signaling, and Mendel with Mitosis/Meiosis and Artificial Selection Lab and Pearson review Manual Mitosis/Meiosis lab due Wed • Purchased = Molecular Genetics and Transformation and Restriction Enzyme Analysis Labs, Pearson = same 2 labs due Friday • 6th period Robotics – give Friday’s virtual lab
FRQ Quickwrite ATP and GTP are primary sources of energy for biochemical reactions. • Explain how chemiosmosis produces ATP. • http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/apc/public/repository/ap09_biology_sgs.pdf (2b)
FRQ Outline – 2006 #1 • http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/apc/public/repository/_ap06_biology_sg.pdf
4/17 • Warmup – Genetics Chi Square problem, plants • Math Lab • I’ll check review manuals there both assignments • Sign up for AP account at apscore.org • While there, you have your choice: • Guided review (Chem Cells and Metab) (note – extra credit to the one I choose as the key) • Digital resources • Look at cell repro/Mendel tests • Mastering biology redo assignments • Ask me questions Homework • Know your cell signaling for FRQ tomorrow • Guided review handout due tomorrow • Purchased = Molecular Genetics and Transformation and Restriction Enzyme Analysis Labs, Pearson = same 2 labs due Friday
Dr. Palmer subbing for me tomorrow – Molecular Genetics Review Virtual Lab 4/18 • Collect guided review packets • Hormone/Cell Signaling FRQ – outline (I check packets during this) • Return and Go over guided review packets • Q&A – Big Idea Pwpt. and manual practice questions • Q&A – Unit Tests Homework - • Hand out next guided review due Monday • Tomorrow’s virtual lab will also be due Monday • Purchased Review manual Ecology Section with Fruit Fly Behavior Lab and Energy Dynamics Lab due Tuesday (Pearson Fruit Fly Behavior Lab also) • Practice Exam here Saturday 12pm-4pm • Bring snacks and 5 stapled pieces of paper with ID # at top, blue/black pen, #2 pencils, something to do if finish early such as review manual • If this is your second or third sitting, bring purchased review manual to take practice test in the back of that
4/19 • Molecular Genetics Review Virtual Lab Homework – • 2nd Guided Review packet due Monday • Molecular Genetics Review Virtual Lab due Monday • Purchased Review manual Ecology Section with Fruit Fly Behavior Lab and Energy Dynamics Lab due Tuesday (Pearson Fruit Fly Behavior Lab also) • Practice Exam here Saturday 12pm-4pm • Bring snacks and 5 stapled pieces of paper with ID # at top, blue/black pen, #2 pencils, something to do if finish early such as review manual • If this is your second or third sitting, bring purchased review manual to take practice test in the back of that
