Situation in theCzechRepublic- Programmesfocused on employment • Lack of activities focused on employment of employeesover 50 (no special programmes for unemployed population over 50) • Czech companies – no support for older employees, no special programmes for education, no policies towards older employees • Offer of training courses by Bureaus of Labour • Case study of Liberec Bureau of labour • Offer of short-time programmefor people over 50 to assist them in finding work • Psychologicalassistance • Training for job applications, job interview, etc.
Situation in theCzechRepublic- Programmesfocused on freetime • Mostly self-organized free time activities (walking, tours, knitting, etc.) • Mainly designed just for seniors • Positive effect: decrease of exclusion and isolation of theelderly, social contacts with peers • Case study – Exchange of mutual help • Potential of elderly: skills and knowledge • Reciprocity • Open for all generation • Active ageing
Situation in theCzechRepublic- Programmesfocused on volunteering • Volunteeringin neighborhood • Not any special organization for elderly volunteers • Volunteering is still perceived mostly as an activity for young people or charity work • Seniors are interested in volunteering and public beneficing activities • Case study of Skauting • Contact between young and old generation – tolerance and understanding (x stereotypes) • Positive usage of skills and wisdom of elderly and their transfer to youngpeople • Active ageing
