  2. An overview to date: • Factors that affect Climate: • Latitude • Distance from the Sea • Prevailing winds • Altitude • Aspect • Three different Climate types: • Hot Climates • Temperate Climates • Cold Climates

An overview to date: • We’ve looked at the factors affecting Hot Desert Climates: • Very Dry (less than 100mm of rain per year) • Hot usually over 30 Degrees Celsius in Summer • Big range in day and night temperature (Cloudless skies impacting the containment of heat) • We have also looked at how vegetation has adapted as a result of this climate type: • Camels storing water in their humps • Cactus absorbing moisture in its spongy interior (and large root patterns)

  4. An overview to date: • In the last class we examined the process of Desertification: • Caused by severe drought and rapid population growth (which has resulted in increased numbers of cattle which overgraze on the little Veg. available)
