  1. CRM Learning IT Project Management Mark Creighton

  2. Problem Statement and Company Overview • Automate The Company’s systems so that author royalties do not have to be calculated manually • Expected ROI should be recognized after processing royalties once • CRM uses a proprietary order entry system and Platinum for Windows Accounting software

  3. Royalty Example • Sale price for three videos $895, $695 & $0 • Author royalty = $0 on video sold for $0 • Retail price for three videos is normally $895, $695 & $595 • Redistribute sales dollars based on value video adds to sale • New Prices $651.28, $505.74 & $432.98

  4. Measures of Success • The new system automatically calculates the author royalties accurately • The CFO no longer has to process the royalties, instead the CFO will only review royalties • There is no manual processing of royalties

  5. Requirements Analysis • Conducted and documented meetings with all of The Company’s Managers • Interviewed and documented feedback from Sales Reps and Finance Team

  6. Feasability • Based on Requirements Analysis decided not to make any changes to the order entry system • Automation will occur behind after the order is entered and shipped but, prior to the order entering the Platinum for Windows Accounting software

  7. Implementation and Testing • The project is estimated to take 330 IT hours to implement • Other resources will include time from other departments • The system will run in parallel for one day and test data will be run through the system to assure it is processing transactions properly.

  8. Final Analysis • The project will be reassessed from a cost benefit perspective • The Company’s Bookkeeper will process third quarter royalties in October
