Tips for Building Successful Website Design: • Simplify, simplify, simplify. • What is the most important thing you want to tell the visitor about on each page? • If a web site has too much information on a page, it ends up being confusing to the user. • Visually highlight important information and calls to action • First impressions are very important. • When people arrive at your web site, you have about five seconds to convince them to stay. • On your homepage, keep it simple, communicate what you do and what makes your website different.  • Be personal. • Use photographs of people involved in your project and include testimonials. Use narrative tone. • Organize your web site so that it is easy for your users to navigate and find what they are looking for. • Limit your color palette. Professional looking websites tend to use <4 colors. Use color to help highlight important features on your web site.

Tips for Building Successful Website Content • Useful • Informative • Free • Easy to understand • SearchEngingResultsPages (SERPs) • Offer well written, original, easy to understand information • Likelihood of getting quality links, social media exposure increase • Point of the Internet is finding useful, relevant, free information. • Everything is about information. • Convey it in a manner that stands out from the crowd and you’re automatically step ahead from the others in the pool.

  5. Tips for Building Successful Website Competitors • You need to: • Be more innovative • Be original • Have a better design • Have better content than your competitors • Simply try to best the competition. Use them to learn what works for them, and what doesn’t.
