SQUASH INTHEUNITEDSTATES TheUnitedStateshasthefastestgrowingsquashparticipationofanycountryworldwide.Themostrecentdata fromtheSports&FitnessIndustryAssociation(SFIA) showsaremarkable82%growthbetween2007and 2011tomorethan1.2millionplayers.Participationin juniorsquasheventshasincreased400%inthesame periodwithmorethan1,500youngstersvyingfornationalinterscholasticchampionshipsannually. GLOBALSQUASH SquashTV,launchedin2010bythePSA,hasrevolutionizedaccesstothetoplevelofthesportonaglobal basiswithmorethan300matchesbroadcastliveviathe PSA’svideo-on-demandservice. GROwTHOfSQUASH • UnitedStateshasthefastestgrowingsquashparticipationworldwide–theSports&FitnessAssociation(SFIA)shows82%growthoverallbetween2007and2011tomorethan1.2millionsquash players. Juniorparticipationhasgrownover400%from2007-2011,andthisnumber continuestogrow roughly20-30%annually. Geographically,juniorsquashisalsoexpanding.Intwoyears,2010-2013,forWestCoasttournamentsweexperienceda375%increaseinthenumberoftournamentscombinedwitha55%increaseintheaveragenumberofplayerspertournament. • • HIGHSCHOOlANdCOllEGESqUASH • Sincethe2007-2008season,thenumberofteamsintheU.S.HighSchoolTeamChampionships increased 88%,thelargestsquashtournamentintheworldwithmorethan1,500players TherearenineaccreditedScholasticSquashProgramMiddleandHigh Schoolleaguesaround the countrywithmorethan300teamsactivelyparticipating Inthe2012HighSchoolTeamChampionshipstherehosted155teamsfrom20states.In1998,only 43schools hadsquash programs. Toprankedjuniorsof2013wenttoYale,Princeton,andHarvardaswellasothertopcollegesand universitiesaroundthecountry. Morethan200 collegesanduniversitieshavecourts,including23 ofthetop25 collegesasranked byForbesmagazine.EveryIvyleagueschoolhasavarsitysquashteam. SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY TheNationalUrban Squash&EducationAssociation (NUSEA)isthe officialcharityofUSSquash.NUSEA programsofferafter-schoolenrichment programs servingdisadvantagedyouthnationwide. These programsoperateyear-roundandprovidean intensiveexperiencefortalentedandmotivatedstu- dents seeking tofulfilltheirpotentialbothonthecourt andinthe classroom. Impressiveresultshavebeengeneratedtodate: •1,000 studentshave been served fromBaltimore, Boston,Bronx,Chicago,denver,Harlem,NewHa- ven,andPhiladelphia •100 per cent of urban squash participantshave graduatedfromhighschool •93percentofurbansquash graduateshaveearned collegedegrees •10 US cities participate insquashand education activities •$10 millionin private high school and college scholarshipshavebeenawardedto150urbansquash graduates 7

FACILITIESOVERVIEW • Ofthetop20squashplaying countries,theUnitedStatesrankssixteenthintheratioofcourts/person,thoughtheUSrankssecondintotalnumber ofcourtswithapproximately3,500overall. Squashfacilitiesaredistributedfairlyevenlyacrosstypesincludingcommercialclubs,privateurban andsuburbanclubs,collegesandhighschools. Thecostoftheconversionofracquetballcourtstosquashrangesfrom$10,000-$15,000 percourt. Dozensofracquetballfacilitieshavebeenconvertedinthelastfewyears.USSquashhelpsinthis initiativebyprovidingupto$1,000percourtconversion. Newsquashcourtsrangeincostfrom$35,000-50,000percourt,independent ofthefacilityneeds.
